All other reviews agree, was probably a good idea ten years ago, but the software is clunky, character recognition takes a long time, 2 minutes 41 seconds on my timer to process ten simple hotel receipts , which you then need to validate for accuracy before you can import them into an expense report. For some reason, you can't "view" in Excel on a Marriott account, which is always classified as transportation, as the feature was retired a while ago. The scanner is slow and comments about it not

Do not buy this item. Read other one star reviews and you will see a pattern. The scanner stops working after 60-90 days, which is too late to return to Revain. Customer service at Neat is terrible. You will receive useless canned responses by email. You can only speak to a live person between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM ET. (You can get an extra two-hour window if you're willing to throw good money after bad money and buy their top-notch Neat Care service.)

The scanner itself is fine, but NEAT has suffered a lot in the last year. They effectively forced their customers to subscribe to the Neat Cloud service and pay monthly, and stopped releasing desktop software as well. I bought this scanner for my father and have been using the Neat Desk Scanner for several years now. Many of my files are stored in NeatDesk, which is being retired. Nowhere in the product description is it mentioned to buy monthly data storage. The software that came with the device is no longer supported, forcing their customers to use the cloud service. They say on the website that you can still use their 'old' software if you want, but there's no customer support for it.
