Type of review

I was suspicious after reading some of the reviews, but the Netgear R6300 router has made me happy so far. Installation was quick and easy and the signal is good throughout my home and 3 acres. I can get a signal even in my metal (aluminum) airplane hangar. The 5G (or AC) signal didn't give any extra bands compared to the N signal, but it seemed faster. I especially like the Genie software as it makes setting up four networks quick and easy. Four nets? Two home networks, one 5G only for AC(5G)…

Customer service is terrible

I'm giving this review because of a really terrible customer service experience. My router has been working for about a week, no problems with the router itself. I bought this to have a more reliable router than the previous Netgear router I had and it's been working fine so far. My problem was the setup. I'm usually tech savvy and can get to the bottom of the software to control different devices and make them work the way I want them to. First I set up the AC 1750 and it worked fine. For some

An excellent router in router

I have owned this router for 4 years. Never had a problem with it. This router is capable of wiring a home approximately 2,200 square feet. It was very reliable and very fast. Roku, Revain Fire Stick and Google Chromecast are currently connected to it. None of them have any problem streaming through this router. There are also some iDevices switches: http://www.amazon.com/iDevices-Switch-Wi-Fi-HomeKit-Enabled/dp/B00U31IO3Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1458940112&sr=8-2&keywords=idevices . which are…

The hiss quickly turned into a hiss

***********PLEASE READ THE LATEST UPDATE FIRST. SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS ROUTER! ********* The router arrived in the mail today. Setup was very easy and quick. The instructions were clear and simple. Disconnect the modem, connect the router to it, turn both on, go to the laptop, open the browser, go to routerlogin.net, update the firmware and you're done. The whole thing took no more than 5 minutes. It took me 5 hours to set up my first Netgear router. Performance: I haven't…

Main Problems Good for Routers

After fighting with Netgear and Linksys, I decided on this router. I regret my decision. This router doesn't do well in my closet and literally needs a constant fan to keep it cool (no kidding, even in the winter with no heat). When I try to turn off the fan, the router overheats and the WiFi is lost (wired devices and connected WiFi routers remain connected). When I try to increase the WiFi N to 450MB per second, I get disconnected from the network on all my devices, so the higher speed I get…

BEWARE OF THE FLASHING POWER INDICATOR! .Death of your router.

It works fine for a while and then one day you wake up and the POWER LIGHT STARTS FLASHING! They do a 30-30-30 reset and follow the instructions to update the firmware (using a modem to connect directly to the internet) but nothing works. THE DEATH POWER LIGHT CONTINUES FLASHING. So you call NETGEAR and they say your product is not covered by phone support, but they CAN SOLVE THE PROBLEM if you PAY $179.99 for 2 years of support. I explained that buying a new router would be cheaper, so they…

Worked for two years then failed

When I spend over $140 on a heavily advertised router, I expect it to last over two years. My satellite had a major network outage last night and I lost my internet. Without knowing this at first, I did a normal modem and router reboot and figured that was the problem. When the ISP was restored this morning the R6300 was not working so I made numerous restart attempts. Vain. I then tried a factory reset and followed the instructions. The only problem is that my power light was blinking and I…

Netgear Kicks Butt R6300 Router

My new Netgear R6300 router is a bit bulky and expensive, but its footprint is actually small since this router is mostly vertical. It's more expensive than many Cisco/Linksys home routers, but its build quality and performance are excellent in comparison. Installation: The installation of this router went smoothly with clear instructions and networking software to get you the hang of it. Installation areas to consider. My setup included multiple wired Ethernet ports and about half a dozen…
