Please note that the maximum no-load output voltage of this panel is only 17V. So if you want to use it to charge with a 12v controller the panel needs full sun to work. My first panel mostly stayed in the shade so it was cheap enough to buy another one and put it in parallel somewhere sunnier, now my little solar charging system works great.

Perfect fit for my application. I use this to keep a 7Ah SLA 12v battery charged for a battery powered electric fence charger. battery overnight and built a mount. Otherwise it worked perfectly for 3 months. I will write this review if I order another one for the same application.

Using this panel to service the Power-Sonic PS-1250 F2 12V 5Ah SLA battery for small trolling motors/short range installations. Everything worked fine after the initial install, 2 trips there and back to the dock and back. Since then, the battery has not fully charged even after a few days in the blazing sun and is empty after a few hundred meters. I don't have a diode in my circuit. Can the panel drain the battery? Very good quality panel especially for the money. Tested in the sun and works as advertised or better. it doesn't look quite like the picture, it really has 36 cells, the one in the picture has 54, so you need to update your picture. 36 cells is the right amount for a nominal 12V system, so the panel is fine, it just looks a little different than the photo. I will use it to charge my van which costs a lot without moving so the battery is slowly draining. it should be the perfect size for it.

Speaking of small 5 watt units I think they are great for the money but as I ordered 8 units I kept getting different sized units which was very annoying! there are different part numbers or parts lists for that. I swapped the odd units several times until I had a matching 8 units. One of the blocks had an odd dent on the bottom but I replaced it too easily. In any case they all seem to work and for the money I was expecting limited quality but the different sizes were annoying.

I used this solar panel along with a 7Ah battery to control a linear actuator in an outdoor chicken coop.
