1 year ownership: Aquarium Lights

I've had these lights for a year now! Not a single problem. Not as versatile as Cadillac reef lights, but way better than the "black box" lights people have been using for years. I love that I can mix colors to my liking. I just wish nicrew would release a controller for these lights. If you have a controller I think they're compatible, but I'm just changing things manually. If you're wondering if they're light, then yes. I have a very deep reef and these lights grow coral red on the bottom…

I was skeptical at first

I tried several sets of LED reef lights until I found these. I'm a discount reefer and I refuse to pay thousands of dollars for LED lights! They are made from foreign-made parts anyway! Many of the cheaper lights will grow coral, but they won't provide the right Kelvin for nice SPS coloring (like the aquariums you see online or at a reef shop). Within a month of hanging 2 of these over my 75 gallon tank (at around 50% peak intensity) I'm already seeing the best colors from my SPS. The only…

My corals love this light

Using a 150 watt light source. I have a 30 gallon Aqua Japan AIO that was launched 3 months ago. First I immediately noticed a big difference in my corals. They have expanded and everyone looks happy from my soft corals to my hard corals. For now I've set white to 5% and blue to 25% to start. I plan to increase the intensity in a few days to see how the corals react. It seems to fit the back of my tank fairly well, my glass is quite thick for its small size, but I used PVC tubing to keep the…

Advice on mounting on a canopied tank

What I did was buy a 1/2" tall 1" wide aluminum frame and just split the frame 2 pieces into 3 pieces to lay 3/4 inch and 2 inch wide strips of wood, and then I glued small, narrow pieces around the posts. This allows you to remove the aluminum posts to access the tank covers and remove the tank covers. I placed the two posts with the NICREW bulbs resting on them and the two screws in the center of the 150 watt NICREW bulb touched the two strut rails as these are the widest points on the face…
