3 seconds might be pretty short for your film

Probably a decent camera for most applications/users. Here's the reason for the mediocre rating: We bought this to replace a broken Nikon 1 J1 camera whose standout feature is 400fps video. J5 does the same but only for 3 seconds (J1 did 5 seconds). If you're using 400 fps for forensics (we use it for impact testing) with a manual trigger, 3 seconds can be pretty short for your movie. Aside from 400fps video, this is a fairly unremarkable camera; we returned it.

Pros
  • Quality build
Cons
  • Negative present

Dangerously wearable, surprisingly fun.

I got it from Nikon 1 J3 few years. I like the new extras, although 15 fps at 4K resolution is not enough. For those familiar with the specs, this camera is particularly good for its size. The only downside is that the standard battery will accidentally overheat during video recording (which is my main use of this camera), causing the camera to shut down after the sensors trigger this hazard. I've searched the forums and from time to time some batteries have been recalled. Thank goodness I…

  • Very good value for money

Cool and sufficient settings

As you can see from the picture, my phone takes terrible pictures, so I bought this camera. Which looks very vintage with the strap I got for it. For a non-professional user the camera is great because I can take it to all my social events and dance or be in a bar without looking at it. Like the early 2000s but with much better image quality. I use it to post my photos on social media and I don't see any difference with more professional cameras. Another advantage is that you can learn a lot…

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Reliability

An amazing camera that fits in your pocket.

As a professional photographer, I own several Nikon DSLRs. I chose this model as a more compact and convenient option for travel than business. I'm impressed with the features and flexibility of this camera, especially the ability to switch to manual mode. Most point-and-shoot cameras limit you to selecting a predefined scene, which can limit your ability to create custom images. Aside from that, the scene selector is also very useful when I'm trying to capture a photo or image and don't intend

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • There are nuances

Great photos but one fatal flaw

I bought this camera as a compromise between two others I own: a D5300 with a set of lenses and a point and shoot camera. Since my wife uses the D5300 for product photography, it's quite difficult to take it off the rig and back on. While the point-and-shoot system is good, it's clear that the quality of the shots falls far short of that of a DSLR. So a good camera with good portability was the need of the hour. Enter J5. I bought the version with a 10-100mm lens and the photos are beautiful…

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • a bit shabby

Nikon finally reaches the same level as the competition.

Too bad this camera doesn't have more exposure! I know that Sony's vaunted RX100 range is probably the most popular flag-bearer in this class (yes, I know they don't have interchangeable lenses, but more on that later), but NIkon finally got it right with this one! I would like to start by saying that I am NOT a professional and not even an amateur photographer as most say. A few years ago I decided to switch from my smartphone and bought a Nikon J1. My terms were image/image quality, size…
