Not installed on Dell XPS8940 as shipped

Dell XPS 8940 with 65w cpu has no bolts to install this cooler, it has an M3 socket which is flush to the motherboard. To install this cooler on the 8940 motherboard, you need to buy M3x20mm screws or M3x25mm ser screws (to use the nuts provided). With these add-ons, installation is very easy. Some reviewers have reported difficulty installing the cooler onto the brackets. The instructions that came with mine (4/2021) say to remove the fan before installing the cooler. The fan easily snaps back

WOW! Doesn't matter!

Used the stock cooler for my Core i7-7700k (not overclocked) and observed temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees Celsius while gaming. Sometimes it reaches 85 degrees. I just installed NH-D9L (used with thermal paste) and my CPU is now hovering around 60 degrees when gaming. I'm surprised! Didn't think I would see such a difference. And the fan is much quieter, while the stock fan sounded like it was running at the limit to keep it under 80. Noctura also seems to have put a lot of attention and

Impressive craftsmanship and profit!

Replaced the smaller Noctua unit I was using on my i7-7700K 91W. The smaller one ran up to 100°C and thermally throttled under full continuous load without overclocking, worked in normal use and still great for gaming. Now it hardly reaches 80°C under full continuous load without overclocking in an ITX case. The only thing is that it comes with extra brackets for another 92mm fan, but it's only compatible with thicker fans, not the thinner 92mm fan I had on another CPU cooler, which I wanted to

Noctua never fails to impress

Noctua coolers are among the best, if not the best, air coolers on the market. This cooler is no exception. I have it on an overclocked 5820K @ 4.6 and it can handle the heat generated by the CPU. I chose this cooler because of its size. It's not the smallest, but it's not the biggest either. I needed something that would fit snugly in the Corsair Air 240 and this one had just a few millimeters left. The included fans are 92mm in diameter, so you can't just replace them with a case fan, but…

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Unreliable

Very well made, quiet and cools just like my previous water cooling system. Installation is easy and it's solid. Doesn't charge or charge the motherboard. I was a little disappointed that the values didn't drop as much as others claimed (they stayed the same, while others reported up to 30 degrees when idling and no more than 45-50 degrees under load). Idle with my i7 4790K (not overclocked) it's hot to around 36 degrees and under load it still gets to 70 degrees sometimes even 75. This is in…

Very impressive little radiator! (Supplied with AM4 mounting hardware)

I bought this to build my home server which uses an AMD 3600. I've done many Ryzen builds and they tend to get very hot due to their power consumption, probably because of 7nm. Even with AMD's best stock coolers, they have a hard time keeping 6-core chips from hitting their 85C limit super-fast under AVX workloads. But the Noctua series does a great job of keeping it under control and running longer at higher clock speeds. I've done several builds with NH-D15 on 3700x, 3900x and 3950x. It's a…

This is exactly what I was looking for.

This 5-star rating is easily deserved. I bought it for the i7-8700 (with a crappy Intel cooling solution) and knew from experience that I wanted something better. I have a couple of new unused "Hyper 212s" and they often have a defect where the heat pipes detach from the base and the transfer surface of the 212 looks gnarly when new. Even if you pet the Hyper 212, they shake, so there's no point. I've tried many "imported" water blocks for use with a 400w TDP ASIC, so I have an idea of what…

Good for Silence enthusiasts on a budget/size budget.

I replaced the stock cooler on my 3600 with this one and damn it's a good upgrade. I was looking at a more powerful cooler like the D15, but it wouldn't match my Node 804's specs. I was a little hesitant as 92mm fans can be louder, but Noctua seems to have put some magic into these things. The fan on this thing is quiet compared to the AMD Wraith cooler and almost inaudible under load if you go into the bios and set it to a quiet profile. Even if there is a temperature rise due to CPU…

Great cooling for the price

I'm running a Noctua NH-D9L with an i7 8700K with no overclocking. I also have another computer with i7 8700 (not K) with stock Intel cooler and no overclocking. Both computer assemblies are almost identical, they were created around the same time, and fans are installed in both Cooler Master HAF 912 housings. Both computers are in an air-conditioned room set at a comfortable 73°. I used Core Temp 1.12.1 and all temperatures are in Fahrenheit. Both computers' processors were under heavy load…
