Noiseblocker ITR XS 2 BlackSilentFan XS 2 Review

Bought for cooling audio equipment. At maximum speed, the fan is quite noisy. The hum is not that critical, but, given the brand, it needs to be mentioned. There is a feeling that this is not a bearing problem, but a suboptimal blade configuration. Everything else is normal.

I'd rather have some noise if that means real air movement. I compared this to the lowest Startech fan and Startech moves more air at about the same noise. I even connected them to a straight 12v wire to make sure there was no throttling. They come with mounting screws, which Startech strangely forgets to include.

Great replacement for Tivo Bolt fan. Some Bolts have bad fans, some have noisy motherboards, and some (like me) have had both. I bought this and some jumper wires to connect to another power supply on the motherboard for my bolt to whisper quietly.

Does the job I bought it for, but it runs at maximum RPM almost exclusively and I can't find any additional CPU fan settings in my Asus Maximus Hero X motherboard bios to disable the curve fan change. After a few weeks he started wheezing. I checked and found that no blades or wires are touching anything else, so it's probably the guard that's fraying since I've been running my system longer than most. It can't be Noiseblocker's fault that the motherboard doesn't read the fan from the header…

I used this to replace the stock fan in my TiVoBolt. I bought it with the TiVoBolt because I heard the stock fan was noisy. When I got my TiVoBolt, the fan wasn't noisy at all (i.e. I couldn't even hear it from more than a foot away), but it didn't cool the system very well. After replacing the fan with the NB XS-2, the ODT (chip temperature) dropped from 72°C to 62°C while the fan stayed completely silent as far as I can tell.

Like the previous poster, I used it to replace the Tivo Bolt fan. The old fan was whistling in my bedroom and driving me crazy. Before reading the rest I would say that if you are having trouble with noise from your bolt you should do it. This is a fantastic solution. It doesn't fit the same holes though so you really can't use standard screws to reinstall it, but I just used a four point glue gun and it worked fine. The geometry was precisely matched to the size of the installation housing…

I just finished installing it on my TiVo Bolt which went smoothly. Carefully remove the foam antenna bracket that is attached to the fan, and then use a bead of adhesive to secure it in place. The fan is almost inaudible compared to the one it replaces. Looking at the current JMC fan specs for the TiVo-supplied fan (this isn't an exact part number, but you can infer from the power consumption), this fan has almost the same RPM and CFM, or maybe a little better. Hope there are no cooling…

The fan in my Tivo Bolt failed and was making an awful noise. A few posts recommended this fan as a replacement. It was easy to replace and snapped right into the Tivo Bolt mount. Although the new fan has a 3-pin connector and the old one was 2-pin, a little testing was enough to determine the orientation and which 2 pins are needed to power the fan. The new fan is much quieter than the old one and actually seems to be moving more air, helping the Tivo stay cool. So far very satisfied.
