Looks great but I was worried they would snag terribly when drying irregular shaped kitchen tools and knives. After the first wash, which did NOT turn the red dye into white, these towels swelled up and became so beautifully soft and absorbent! We love her!

I've had them for over 5 years and they are almost the same as the day I bought them (minus the stains). I'm sure it's not recommended, but we even washed them in very mild bleach and the black part was still a deep black. We change them out for a different day every day, so they're often in the wash, and yet these things aren't worn or worn. I like them so much I bought another pack after we moved.

Before purchasing towels, I searched the web for many towel reviews and got many good responses. I'm glad I didn't listen to some of the negative reviews. They were exactly what I was looking for and more. It was the same texture as some of the towels I found years ago, but they were even thicker and bulkier. They dry well and wash well, and I sing their praises. I didn't know I could be so addicted to kitchen towels!

Buy this brand again and it won't be your last. This time we bought several sets. some for us and some for a friend who fell in love with mine when i accidentally left one of these towels at his house. They are durable and wash great! I even bleach them and the color (we have both black and red) stays as vibrant as ever. We bought our first set about 3 years ago and they are still great! We wanted more and gave away a few sets. Great towels!

I have bought these for my mother twice over the years and they have held up great. We are a family that cooks a lot and these towels not only have to handle everyday use but also a lavish vacation. These are good towels, no doubt. The only problem I have is with the first use, they need to be rinsed off a time or two before use or they don't absorb well. I don't know what's going on but after washing they suck up any dirt or grime like little soldiers. I highly recommend these towels to people

For years I used a stack of commercial "tea towels" that I bought from a restaurant supply store in New Zealand. But nothing lasts forever, so eventually I had to give up. (Pun!) Every kitchen towel I've bought in the US has been a disappointment, it doesn't work as well as the ones made in New Zealand. Update Feb 2013: Towels were purchased in November 2012. I still have no problems with these towels, although I always wash them with hot water on a high setting. I liked the size, density and absorbency. I will buy another set. I don't understand the complaints that it doesn't absorb unless they received a product that isn't 100% cotton.
