Went like clockwork. Well done

Well made and works like a charm. To be honest I was in a unique situation using this as the exterior style for the pillars didn't work and I built an entire subframe out of the car. But despite all the strain on the tool, it worked great and I never felt secure. If you're using it like I did with the two-handed setup, I recommend putting the short side in as it will cause the coil to bend to that side. The installation helped me. and I was able to remove the spring compressor from below.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Little things

Go slow, vote for sure.

1-I always lubricate the threads before use. Helps prevent the spring from slipping out of the handle. Determine the best way to insert the end of the screw. Secure it carefully and NEVER drop it or hit the compressed spring. Spring is the most dangerous thing you will ever face. Unless you're a bad chemist or snake trainer. But it can be done safely if you take it slow and remember that if you feel in danger, stay safe.

I rented one of these from AutoZone while I was building.

I rented one from AutoZone when I was putting the front suspension together on my 1960's Impala and thought I'd bought one. The spring had to be at a high angle to reinstall, and I couldn't get that angle with this compressor. However, the compressor held the spring in place even under heavy tension, so I'm still giving it 4 stars. It's also a lot cheaper than the $190 spring compressor I bought, so we get a hard corner to put the spring back in. Although I needed another compressor to complete

Worked very well but there is a trick

After trying a rented spring compression tool that couldn't be used on my Ford Focus I decided to give this tool a try. While it wasn't possible to apply it through the bottom of the feather, there is a trick; The rod can be temporarily removed from the hooks and then threaded through the side of the spring and reattached inside. On the underside I had to cut about 2 inches off the stem to avoid hitting the top case bolt. I really think the OEM should sell this tool with a different shank size.

Perfect. Suitable for many vehicles with rear wheel drive.

Great product. This spring compressor is ideal for front springs on many rear-wheel drive vehicles. It is of exceptional quality and will last for many years even with regular use. When you receive the instrument, immediately lubricate the threads on the shaft before each use. One person complained that the spring compressor was difficult to remove after the job was done. This is only a problem if the hole on the underside of the forearm (wishbone) is small. If it is, pull out the threaded rod…

Worked great on a 1995 Lincoln Town Car.

I used this coil spring compressor to replace both front coil springs on my 1995 Lincoln Town Car. This is a Panther chassis so it will work well on a Crown Victoria or Mercury Grand Marque. This was the first time I've changed coil springs on a car this big, so I worked slowly and ended up with a car that runs like new. It took me about 8 hours to replace both springs, all upper and lower control arm bushings and all four ball joints. This tool made all the work much easier and safer. The tool

A steep fork can kill you.

1st Revain star for shipping this item to me within 12 hours of purchase and delivered by the end of the 3rd day. Did I mention I live in Hawaii? 2nd star for seemingly decent quality steel used in the manufacture of this tool. I've previously had threaded shank tools that wouldn't hold the first time. 3rd star for the cast body. 4. Star for offset hooks. No 5th star because of the "fork". I bought this tool on purpose, thinking a fork would make the job easier. it's not like this. Trying to…

The pen fell out after use, I can't trust that.

What started with buying a new battery and tires for my 2000 Mustang became almost entirely ball joint dusters, which then became tie rods, which then became end rods, which then also became the control arm bushings and stabilizer bushings. At this point I realized I needed to remove the coil springs, hopefully without killing myself. If you're anything like me, you spend entire days in the uncertain environment of auto repairs, risking your life on your family's cars to save a few hundred…
