Upgrade Your Scroll Saw with OLSON SAW AC49610 Blade Conversion Kit Review

Package arrived sealed from the factory but without all the necessary parts (seen in the photo). The small black piece used to hold the smooth-tipped blade under the saw is missing. This is the second set of this type I've bought, the first was great, the second for friends was a big disappointment with quality control.

He bought it because it was supposed to be compatible with my Central Machinery saw, but it absolutely isn't. The screw that comes with the kit is narrower than the screws that come standard with the machine. Bolts cannot be interchanged as they do not match Olson parts. Pretty messy. As the label says, it is compatible.

This product did not fit me at all. It was easy to install and set up, but as soon as I turn it on, the blade snaps and the bottom holder flies through the magazine. I've tried multiple adjustments (voltage, etc.) to no avail. I've never been able to try it on a piece of wood. It looks like the setup can't handle the speed of the powered saw. Very disappointing.

It worked. That's the only good thing I can say. Looking back, I should have just put the money into a better spiral saw. It is very difficult to change blades with plain ends, and if you don't align the blade properly in the top and bottom blocks, the blade will break. I ended up finding it too cumbersome to keep using it. I'm going to buy a new spiral saw that is designed for both types of saw blades.

Well I seem to have more confidence in this product than most. Boy was I wrong. I was excited to get to work but as some other reviews have noted the top blade holder assembly is rubbish. When all were assembled and assembled, the metal pivoting part of the bracket immediately broke! Now I'm wondering how to get my money back.

I've read reviews that it's difficult to install and the blades break easily. I felt there were some issues with the installation guide, but after looking at what needed to be done I figured it out. I tried several sizes of spiral blades so I bought them with no breakage. All you have to do is make sure your voltage is correct. If you're experienced with spiral saws, you shouldn't have any problems. If you can't install pinless blades you will need one and I recommend the Olson Saw AC49610…

I thought this would be a great upgrade for an entry level scroll saw, makes using spiral blades much easier, not perfect but a huge improvement. But after some use it will BREAK!
