Well, way better than I feared! At 18 inches tall in a closed wooden enclosure (open top) my Russian tortoise has a 96f hotspot in a warm room. I suspect he'll always read over 90 feet, which is perfect! I like that I control the light the way I like and that it's just warm. I wish I had had this many years ago! I'll write about longevity when he gets older; So far it's been about a month and it's still going well.

I've been using them for a few weeks and they work. A few things to keep in mind when using it. 1. If you don't have indicator lights, you won't know if they're on or off (unlike a lightbulb in your incubator). 2. They take longer to heat up than an incandescent bulb, so the temperature may get too low. 3. They continue to radiate heat for some time after your thermostat has switched off, which can cause your temperature to rise above your thermostat settings.

Used to keep anoles warm during the cold season when the lights are off at night. Installed in the Zoo Med 5.5 Dome Mini Deep Dome Light on a standard 10 gallon aquarium screen top it maintains the ambient temperature at 80 degrees 6" from the top. Can switch to 60 watts for 10 gallons and hopefully at night closer to 70 degrees. This heater has been running every night (and sometimes by mistake all day!) for a few months now and it's 100%.

5 stars because everything came right, but for the temperature I give 4 stars because it is not so easy to determine the setting when you turn it all the way up keep very hot, but anything below doesn't seem to give off as much heat. I have it hanging about 6, maybe 8 inches from the top of my leopard gecko enclosures as my setup currently only allows me to use it that way. I just received it today and checked it right away. The bulbs are labeled 75W but are rated at 85W. One of them draws 85W and the other 83W. Interestingly, the 83W is a bit hotter. Be careful not to touch these things, they can give you very nasty burns, the temperature of which will exceed 625F! Heat dissipation is pretty good. I have them to keep my bird warm. They need to be kept more than 15 inches from the cage so it doesn't get too hot. They appear to be well made. Both bushings are tight

My original rating for this product was 3 stars because the bulb socket felt too small and made a buzzing and clicking noise when screwed in. 24 hours ago I received an email from the seller offering to replace the two lamps I bought. They then kept in touch with me, notifying me when the lamps were shipped and what day they arrived. These ceramic heating pads arrived intact, no cracks, no weird metal threads, nothing broken in transit. Today they went straight to the chicken coops! This week it was well below zero, this morning it was +27 outside.
