I purchased this light mostly to grow lettuce in winter time! My wife planted green leaf lettuce seed and four days later we had little lettuce leaves peeking through the soil! I planted some red leaf and radishes and they are doing great! One word of advice, if you’re getting your soil from the garden, let it sit under the light for a couple weeks or a month, then pluck out all the weed seed that sprouted! Through trial and error, I found that this sponge prefilter caused more headaches than benefits. The only pro is that it does a decent job at filtering debris. However the sponge is flimsy and constantly falls off the pump intake. This causes the pump to make loud and annoying noises, which ultimately disrupts the peace of my aquarium. Great bench and at the price of teak, we used the lower shelf to make a second bench and saved big money. I was originally going to build both, but the price of teak was 3 times the price of this bench! Instead I got two well made benches at less than half the cost to make one from scratch. I ignored the reviews that said these ran small and went ahead with my regular size, knowing that these thermals are supposed to be fitted, and that I also needed them tight enough to fit under my skinny jeans for tailgating.
