Closed and loaded Best in Cycling

Portable, safe as described. Please note that they are small and do not give you extra space to attach the bike to anything. They also don't weigh the extra 2 pounds to carry around. The bike rack is great, securely attached to the frame and easy to remove if needed.

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Good strong short shackle lock

This is about the fifth I've bought for various bikes. It is very durable and effective as a lock. Perhaps the only downside is that, as with almost all locks that have a partial plastic mount for the bike itself, the mount will break over time. It will take a lot of time and abuse, but it will happen over time.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Security

I bought these for my 9 year old to lock their bikes. I am very impressed with the ease of use. A really strong and reliable lock, the kit includes a bracket to attach to a bike. What's especially cool is that you can register the lock online and order cheap replacement keys if you lose all five of the keys that came with it!

Pros
  • Permanent Test Results
Cons
  • Clarity

Fits the bill - just what I needed

I have had a 9" OnGurad lock for many years of faithful service. I wanted something lighter since I carry my locks in my pocket. I love this lock especially the price compared to other brands. It's exactly what I wanted. As with every ULock, I thoroughly oiled the keyhole and locking bars with TriFlo. I've learned over the years that the key (or god forbid) picking the lock is no fun. Removing the buckle was easy as I don't attach it to my bike. A good product.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Non automatic

FAIL - THE WORST CASTLE EVER!

I bought this lock just over a month ago and it is already locked and frozen in the lock cylinder where the key is inserted. As I said, I have had this lock for a little over a month now and it is too late to return it to AMAZON. Also, I have to cut it off my bike as it's frozen to it so I can't even unlock it to use it. What an awful experience. If anyone from any brand is reading this I would appreciate some help on what to do to thaw it. I've already filled it with WD-40 and I can't move it.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Communication with seller

Poor design, older models are much better

Disappointing but workable. Will I recommend? no Older models (2005) had a latch to keep rust and dust out of the lock. The bike mount bolts weren't visible either (although they were still rusty). The big problem now is that the U bar hook is loose and turns easily. It would be nice if he still had a simple device that fits in the slot. But the new mount has a plastic hook that you have to slide and click. But since the U-Bracket's hook is loose, it just wants to swivel, not snap. It takes two

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities

  • Empty

Still great but Onguard redesigned

The locking mechanism on my 15 year old Onguard Bulldog Mini had completely frozen so I had to replace it. I still love this lock and for the price it's not a problem at all, but Onguard has changed the design significantly in the meantime and I'm not sure if that's for the better; This one feels lighter and the barrel end caps don't feel as secure as they used to. I live in San Francisco, where bike theft is worse than any other city with the possible exception of New York, and my old Onguardโ€ฆ

great price great size reasonable weight

If you've avoided U-locks because they were so big and heavy, give this one a try. The hardened steel double lock construction is fairly reliable (much better than any cable or chain of similar weight, of course). The "mini" size should work on any quality bike rack, although it's not big enough for parking meters. It's also not big enough to block both wheels; Use a different lock or cable to secure the other wheel. Due to its smaller size, the lock is of reasonable weight and size. The setโ€ฆ

Still going strong.

This U-lock is damn good. I've had this lock for almost a year and living in the city of angels there's constant theft of anything and everything. My bike has not been touched or from what I have inspected. I left my bike in the south-central area and far away in not-so-good spots downtown, in good areas for countless hours a day, and each time I returned to my bike where I left it. This lock will not cause anyone trouble if you know how to take proper care of it. Once I got it I poured someโ€ฆ
