I bought this little powdered sugar shaker for my morning french toast - it would be perfect with a different strainer or a perforated top. The grid on this sieve is too fine and you can hardly shake off the powdered sugar. Maybe they thought of this shaker for something you want a lot less, like cinnamon or cocoa powder for your coffee service.

I like this shaker even better than when I bought it. Its shiny stainless steel. It pours like a charm and I imagine it will last a very long time. Highly recommended. I wouldn't use it for salt as salt is corrosive and can damage metal, but anything else that has fine grains is a joy to use. I use it for cinnamon; however, it can also be used for ground sugar.

For baking bread, this shaker is a great addition to your tools. With this you can easily sprinkle a bread pan with rice four. You can also use it to sprinkle powdered sugar on desserts. All you have to do is shake the shaker. It doesn't work if you turn it upside down. No wonder it's called a shaker. Some complain that the lid doesn't close well. I don't see it at all. Here it fits perfectly.

My main gripe though is the lid: it's difficult to put on and latch and sometimes it gets stuck in the protective plastic top cap so if you pull it off the whole top goes away. I use it to lightly dust my flour when baking. Yesterday I was so focused on shaping the loaf that I took off the plastic wrap and didn't realize the entire lid had come off until I poured half a can of flour onto the dough. Anger doesn't begin to describe it.

I think this shaker is defective for the following reasons: 1. The plastic cap covering the shaker could not be removed without using WD-40 oil to clean to solve them. I'm afraid to put it back on for fear it will never come off again. This is disappointing because I bought it to keep closed when not in use. 2.
