Good basic winch, works well

Needed to replace my 20ft trailer. Suitable for standard holes, good strength and ratcheting/locking mechanism. Nice and long nylon strap.

Seems solid for external accessories

We use these hand winches to level and raise sections of a sea dock. We needed a replacement, this model seems solid, sorry we haven't run it yet to know for sure.

Worth the Money - Towing and Winching Products

Rugged Design Whatever your need, it will meet and exceed expectations. There's even a silent mode. I use mine inside to help me pull my wheelchair up the stairs. Very impressed with how strong he is!

Poor product, suitable for towing product and winch

I put my boat on rollers and this winch did not pull the boat at all. I ended up buying another brand that worked. I have owned many boats over the past 40 years and have never seen such a bad winch.

Missing item: winches

As others have said, the "holder" that holds the rope to the reel is not included. So the choice is yours to make your own or use, without which it can be dangerous. I made my own but I suggest looking for a winch that includes all the parts.

Missing parts are good for external accessories

The handle was all chewed up. Looked used. There's no nut to hold the girl by the handle. I had to go to the store and look for a suitable nut. The mother wasn't difficult to find but I got the impression the wench was new, ready to install and working. It's not like this.

Supplied with cable partially cut

First of all, the winch worked for my application; however, there was little light. As I unwound the cable, I noticed that several strands of the cable had been cut and were beginning to unravel. I sent it back and ordered a 2500# winch as a replacement.

Buyer warning! Best of Winches

This item is not for sale in its entirety and is missing a very important part!. The small piece of metal that holds the cable to the spool is not included with the winch, so it's up to you to find or make one. I spoke to Open Road today and they said I could send it back instead of having to supply the small metal part that has to come with every winch.

nice for the price: towing items and winches

installed it easy enough and fixed the boat but will test it if the boat capsizes although i think it will work my boot is 25' CC, with a double 140 the winch looks more like a 20 foot or smaller but we'll see. I usually only wind the last 6 inches, but every once in a while I end up at 10 feet due to the tide and the last 3 feet are high and dry (we'll find out later).
