It works. but not great.

the switch is fine. After a week of daily use, however, it's starting to hold the key and requires a quick dose of graphite. I would order a different switch next time.

Pros
  • beautiful thing
Cons
  • clarity

I stuck a screwdriver through the hole under the stirrer.

I put a screwdriver in the hole under the agitator and the old one popped out. Then I just installed a new one. This fixed the short circuit that was causing it to start up sporadically, turn off the horn at will, and short out the battery. Questions don't make sense. It helped me a lot to see how to do it on YouTube.

Pros
  • High test results for hold and durability
Cons
  • Quality

The quality of the key and the ignition mechanism is excellent.

The quality of the key and ignition match the price. The key is a bit thinner than my OEM and the ignition probably isn't as smooth as the OEM. However, compared to a Ford part, the price certainly can't be beat. It also had to be the easiest thing I've ever replaced on a vehicle. It literally took just 1 minute and so far it's working without any issues.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Fits

Cheap but cheaply made

I knew this part needed replacing when I bought my used truck a few years ago. Finally the time had come and I bought the part. Installation was easy enough (if you know what you're doing) and took half a day. What I don't like is that when I park the truck I now have to go from "off" to "accessories" and slowly back to "off" to get the key out. It's a cheap replacement part and really proves the "you get what you pay for" rule.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • So-so

1995 Ford Ranger best ignition and toggle switch

I just installed this item but I suspect it will last a long time. Seems well done. It's as close to a perfect OEM match as you can get and at such an affordable price. It stinks that I now have to carry extra keys (one for the door, one for the ignition), but it's better than leaving the truck unlocked like I used to have to. It was a little tricky to install because I didn't know what I was doing and there were no instructions, but I finally got it done with the help of YouTube. Now it worksโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • old

Repairs a loose (spinning) or stuck ignition cylinder

This is an easy fix for a loose or stuck ignition cylinder. It's easy to replace (usually a push pin) and looks good for years of use. This should also fix ignition link issues, including alarm malfunctions. The only downside is that you can no longer use your original key as it is a brand new cylinder including the key holder. On the other hand, the cost is much less than buying a "genuine" Ford replacement, which actually requires you to reinstall the toggle switch on your original key. Also,

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
