Great and easy to install screen to use with OctoPi

After a lot of research and time looking for the best display for the Octopi 3D printer controller, I narrowed the options down to a 7 inch or 5 inch display. I tried the 7 inch display first and it worked well, but I found the screen too big and bulky to use as a touch controller with my 3D printer. Fortunately, this is not the case with this display. I bought two of these. , for use with my Raspberry Pi3B and Pi3B+, excellent value for the ease of use it offers. With both orders the displays…

The only problem is if you need a longer cable

This is a great display and I use it in my BLV mgn Cube printer build. The only problem is that the cable that comes with it is straight as stated elsewhere and all other RPi cables are twisted. I needed a longer cable so I cut off one end of the 1 meter cable and filed away the insulation from the other end for detail. The back of the cut end is needed to ensure the new cable is thick enough to snap into the connector, but otherwise the modified cable works great. It would be nice if longer…

    great customer service!

The 5" screen fits my Raspberry Pi 4b very well. I couldn't figure out how to get a higher resolution screen to use with my Mac via VNC and support was quick to respond as was the black bar on the For anyone wondering, in /boot/config.txt you want to change the framebuffer lines to: framebuffer_width=1920framebuffer_height=1152 and comment out the lines twodtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d at the end of the file , save and reboot. After that my RPi fills the 5" screen and with the help of VNC I can work…

There were issues with touch input, but a replacement is on the way.

I needed a DSI screen to run the clipper and keep my pins open on the Pi to connect my accelerometer to the input. The screen arrived and the detachable plastic looked scratched but the screen underneath looked brand new so I'm not sure if it just rubbed into the box and was new or could have been used. The screen connected to the Pi immediately and I was able to install the clipper screen with no problems. The problem occurred when I was using the screen. When I clicked on the area I got…

It was great until I noticed the flaws

I started testing the screen with some videos and overall they looked pretty good, but then I noticed a lot of issues.* When I press the main menu to view the apps, I see some horizontal lines surrounding the selected ones Menus flicker.* When I open the webpage with Chrome and open a blank screen or tab. The entire screen will start flickering almost immediately stop working. * The horizontal edges of the touchscreen are far from resizing and moving, if I move to the side it goes up and if I…

Nice display but OS setup required to work with current Pi OS version.

While the product description for this display claims to work with the official Pi OS and does not require drivers, it turns out that you need to edit the Pi-config.txt file to use the older (deprecated) FKMS graphics driver - otherwise showing results of board freezing after displaying Pi OS boot logo. There is no information on how to do this in the instructions or on the Osoyoo website - luckily trial and error and the help of the Pi forums helped me with this. To use this display, find the…

Disturbs WiFi when PI is screwed to the screen as intended

The screen looks good. However, when the PI is connected to the screen as intended, the wifi no longer works. Wi-Fi works when the Raspberry PI sits freely behind the screen. The device is heavy when the power cord is connected to the PI. To counteract this tipping force, the lower legs had to be lengthened. The Raspberry Pi is oriented with the power cord on top. The mounting pins are also too short to allow easy access to the MircoSD card slot, making it almost impossible to switch to a…

    Big screen/weird ribbon cable

Plugged it in and it worked right away. It's amazing to have a screen that doesn't need 5 other elements just to connect it to the PI. I am building a custom case for the Pi and the screen and this screen should work just fine. The brightness is good but the only way to adjust it is via command but that's ok. As mentioned, the ribbon cable is an oddity with this purchase. Both connectors are on the same side, so using a regular cable won't work. The only thing I would like to see are the cables

Most suitable at the moment. good for me

What can I say? This is like ONE of TWO screens in the ENTIRE UNIVERSE running on a Pi DisplayPort. And it doesn't have a separate driver board for me to figure out what to do with it. Those were his two main selling points. I think he has a pretty good image. It could have been brighter. The touch screen works perfectly. And doesn't feel cheap like some OTHER displays. I only wish it was IPS! Good. Maybe one day. At least NOW I can fit everything into the case and get power directly from the…

    • that worries me

My original review is below. I am giving 3 stars for now as the supplier replaced the broken part and the replacement part works. The bezel of the spare part still cuts off the screen on the left. If I find a way to adjust the screen to hide this effect I will upvote to 4 stars. When reinserted, the bezel not only overlaps the leftmost column of characters, but also stands at an angle. I don't think I can adjust the angle. A pretty complete solution for the price. After the product heats up…

Works well. However, the cable is NOT like other Pi cables.

The screen works well and has good picture quality compared to other Pi products. I'm booting from an mSATA attached using one of Abelconn's boards and a Pwr 3.5 amp charger. Only one charger is needed, and the screen, Pi, and SSD have plenty of power (cheers) with no issues and no additional power supplies. I have no idea how well thought out this thing is. These include Phillips screws and a flathead screwdriver (don't worry; we probably all have screwdrivers if we have a Pi). This is a very…

Great alternative to the official display

I was skeptical given that there aren't many DSI display options outside of the official 7-inch screen. If it were easy to create a DSI display for the RPi, wouldn't there be more of them? It's not a huge market for them, so the possibilities aren't endless. I'm happy to report that this display is the real deal. Connected to an RPi 4 with a fresh install of Raspbian, it just worked right out of the box. The picture is clear, the viewing angles are acceptable (not great, just acceptable) and…

Pi ideal. - my new rating

Before I found this I looked everywhere for a monitor for my Raspberry Pi 3B. Now I finally have it. I used to start with a 7 inch monitor that wasn't working, then a 3.5 inch monitor that I barely saw anything on, another 7 inch monitor and now this is my fourth monitor, with which I am satisfied. I really feel like I overpaid considering I paid around $30 for a 3.5" screen and another $20 for a 1.5" screen . I have a few minor issues with it, but overall it's positive. The hardest part about…

    Impressive small screen

I installed mine on a PI 4 B already running Raspbian. No special assembly or drivers required. Turned it on and a small desktop appeared on the screen. The picture was sharp. Because the desktop was set up to work with a mouse, the touch controls were functional enough for such a small screen, even with my rather large index finger. It also works in dual screen mode when a monitor is connected to the HDMI port. I was able to change primary/secondary, rotation, resolution, and position using…

Get rid of all those cumbersome cables, plug and play with your Raspbian-powered Raspberry Pi 4, no HDMI cable with HDMI micro adapter, no touchscreen USB cable and no GPIO port like other displays, no mouse required - super clean, very sharp display, be sure to add the Pi's onscreen keyboard and you can be very portable.
