All cables are broken!

When I first read the reviews I couldn't understand why there were so many complaints. I've been using them for years and have never had any problems. Well the quality of the materials used must have changed because in less than 2 months all the wires in the package broke. I will order another brand on eBay. I pay for shipping but the total is still less than this.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Very expensive

broken wire. - Cheese Tools

I seem to be starting to realize that the wire on the cheese cutter is a consumable item. However, the first of the three wires broke on my first attempt to cut through a block of cheddar cheese. Maybe it was too tight for me, because the second wire, which doesn't "ring" so much when it's jerked, lasted almost 3 weeks. Maybe that's the secret, but the original wire seems to have lasted much longer.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Compatibility

Waste of money and time

I use two different brands of slicers with the same type of wire, a very expensive German made slicer and a more expensive version. Usually the wires for the last few months if not years, I bought 3 packs of 3 wires from this brand I only have 2 wires left. I broke 5 wires and 2 didn't make sense as the knot at the end is very small and won't stay in the groove, DOESN'T FIT AT ALL AND WASTE OF MONEY. I must add that the brake is not only on the node but also on the STRAIGHT section.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Vulgarity

I was disappointed when afterwards.

I was disappointed when the cable that came with my Osti broke after less than 30 days. But I still use the first wire of the trio and after a few months it got stronger. I almost always use this to cut soft cheddar. I started pressing my finger on the back of the wire just above where it enters the handle to relieve stress at the weakest point. Not sure if I just had bad wire to begin with or if a finger to reduce lateral flex/stress makes that much of a difference. I'm sure it still helps.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Wires will do for a week or two.

The wires work well and are quite easy to fit into the OSTI Original cheese cutter I bought. Unfortunately they don't last very long. The original cable lasted 6 months - not great but I've had worse. The first wire change took less than a week. The second replacement of wires took less than a month. I use the slicer properly (I use a separate knife to cut off the cheese rinds) but they keep breaking at the end where a small "knot" is preventing the wire from going through the slot in theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • So far everything seems to be
Cons
  • Multiplier Set
