Installing a ball joint on a lower control arm typically requires the effort of two people. With this tool and our 7420 or 7421 pry bar or any 7/8" diameter pry bar it's a one-person job.

Great tool suitable for control levers and parts

What can I say, this little tool is amazing. This gives you the extra leverage at the end of the control arm you need to pull out a stubborn ballpoint pen. Fixing it in a small hole to keep it from slipping off gives you the peace of mind to really put it down. I finally showed my colleagues today how to take them off so easily and they loved it.

A quarter easily fits through to let a good sized pry bar through.

Received this tool today, it is excellent for disconnecting the lower control arms from the spindle. The hole on mine is big enough to fit a quarter leaving about 1/8 inch. I look forward to using it as I have been a professional mechanic for over 40 years and wish I had had this tool many years ago.

Cozy! Just be careful not to slip

Would be 5 stars unless you really have to be careful not to slip. Without this tool, at work I would use a chain wrapped around my arm with some sort of carabiner to secure it and pierce it with a pry bar. The same thing that makes it so comfortable (it's the ability to slide right up your hand due to the open side of the tool) can also pose a risk of slipping. As long as you're careful, I'd say you're good

Good tool, not suitable for earthworks.

This is a solid construction that will outlive me but is better used on vehicles that will be raised to waist height and above. When working on the ground, especially with compact vehicles, it is not possible to achieve the necessary ground clearance with vehicles standing on jack stands. I used a piece of wood on top of the lower control arm to get the correct leverage to use this tool. Additionally, it's durable and will no doubt get the job done, but is doable with a little on-site…

If you are an auto technician and don't have this - BUY IT

OMG I love this item. Masters come to me and ask me to borrow it. I'm an automotive technician at a dealership and I know how much it costs to save time and effort and not damage ball joint boots. This little piece of metal was a real lifesaver. I often use it once a week and it saves me having to ask another technician to remove the strut/hub assembly while I'm hanging on the lower arm. That's great. Full disclosure, I haven't tried this on a full size truck.

Will not fit Toyota Light Truck Front Lower Control Arm

Item looks like a steel (probably high strength heat treated alloy) S hook with one end looped. I was just trying to mount it on the forearm of a Toyota light truck (*NOT* a car chassis modified into a "crossover" or some other "off-road vehicle"). The open part S is not wide enough. I suspect this could work on most modern cars and car chassis vehicles. If I knew what vehicles it could be used on, I might keep it to myself. Otherwise it will be returned unused.

Small and handy, good for levers and parts

This is a cool touch. When I received it, I couldn't quite understand it. I knew I would need a crowbar, but there were no instructions. The first time I tried to use it the technical mind kicked in and it was simple and effective. Use a long pry bar, strong bar or tube at least 1.5 times the length of the lower arm. Instructions: 1. Remove the ball joint nut (or loosen it if you don't have space) and remove the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle in the usual manner.2. Hang the hook on…
