Description of 🔐 OTC Locknut Socket: A Reliable Occupational Health & Safety Tool with Point Opening

Wheel bearing locknuts are easy to remove or install with these specially designed sockets. OTC wheel bearing locknut sockets are formed from high-strength steel that is resistant to rounding out under high torque loads. Designed for use with 3/4 inch, square-drive MANUAL tools only. NOT intended for use with impact tools - use with impact tools will void the socket's warranty. 6 point, 3-1/8 inch (flat to flat) opening size with 5 inch depth; to determine socket size needed, measure locknut from flat to flat.

I resent the wasted time and labor in the past

old nut. I've had to do this 4 times and this is the first time I've had the right tool. I kick myself for wasting time and effort on previous occasions. And it's very cheap compared to alternatives.

Pros
  • For 3/4" square drive hand tools only
Cons
  • old

It works, so to speak. in emergency kit

Bought this 3 inch socket for wheel bearings on 2.5 ton Rockwell wheels. Basically it works, let me explain. It fits freely so you can use it, but it wants to slip off the nuts when you try to apply the recommended torque (200 ft/lbs) to the wheel bearings during initial installation. Fits snug enough, no problem. Yes, I have the right size for my application.

Pros
  • 6 points, 3-1/8" opening (shallow to shallow) with 5" depth; To determine the head size needed measure the lock nut from one plane to the other
Cons
  • I will add later

Well made and perfect for the job it does.

Ideal for removing the rear nut from a budget 8.5" Pentair Triton II (larger) top. I know it's made for truck wheels, but that's what I needed it for. This turned the pain from ^%$# into a 5 second job. Note that you will need some kind of 3/4 inch drive. A cheap adapter and wrench did the trick. Looks the same as in the picture.

Pros
  • 6 point, 3-1/8" bore (shallow to shallow) and 5" deep; To determine the socket size required, measure the lock nut from one plane to the other
Cons
  • So far so good
