Good first. This desk mount extension has a very solid construction. Sockets and USB ports work exactly as described. However, it doesn't get 5 stars because it could be better.1. You need a power switch on the power strip itself that lights up when it's on2. USB ports need an LED that lights up when something is drawing power. If it had those two features I would give it 5 stars.

The item is very cheaply made and has been stated by others to have a burning smell with use. This was my SECOND after the USB connector blew on the first, now the second worked for less than a day and the same thing happened. I'm guessing because it's so cheaply built and the components will burn out and basically fail, which is dangerous because it could start a fire. Don't risk it, buy an outlet/usb tower instead, it was good but it's too cheap and I don't want my house to burn down.

One thing that makes it really useful is the fact that it can be attached to a table. It's an easy thing to have a turning bolt with a gasket on the other side that can be tightened, isn't it? Well, this simplicity fails if the manufacturer cannot make the hole large enough and pre-drilled for the screw. I love having this outlet by my desk, it makes charging devices easy and convenient throughout the workday. Unfortunately, there are no pads to protect the tabletop when set up, so you don't have to over-tighten the clamp. This means that plugging things into sockets will cause it to wobble a bit. Great product - no weird smells as mentioned in other reviews (not sure how can a rubberized socket smell?). I used this on my office desk, which I made myself out of 3/4" thick plywood. It assembles easily and requires no instructions - the two backrests slide at the top with angled outlets and a tensioner at the bottom of the table .The main benefit for me was to organize my office cords and keep them off the floor and away from my dog and my baby.Plus, my desk is easier to swap out different
