The only negative thing people complain about here is the drive disable buttons, and these reviewers are lying when they say the buttons aren't accurate. They work as stated in the printed instructions. JUST PRESS AND HOLD IT FOR EXACTLY 3 SECONDS until the light goes out. To turn it on, press less so the light appears. Simple and documented. You will need to buy a much longer cable, but never longer than 1 meter. The shorter the better 10 Gigabit, but there are special 1.0 meter data cables…

Great dock - you get what you pay for!

Extra is the best docking station I've ever had (and I've had quite a few). The alignment of the controls takes a little getting used to and is a bit larger than most other dual drive docks, but the build quality is great, really solid. Yes, the keys are a little wobbly, but not as bad as some of these reviews suggest - that doesn't mean they won't register when you press them, or that your finger will completely slip off one side of the key. The speed is excellent, it's definitely faster than…

Didn't work for what I intended.

This docking station is well packaged. Out of the box, it looks like a solid construction that doesn't creak when handled. It includes a power cord, a USB-A to USB-C cable, and a USB-C to USB-C cable. The goal I intended for this dock was to make it easy to insert hard drives for testing with different boot utilities like Parted Magic, Ultimate Boot CD, Western Digital Data Lifeguard. I wanted to avoid opening up the computer and constantly plugging and unplugging SATA cables and power cords…

Dock OWC, STONES! for computer accessories and peripherals

It is recommended to have/purchase a PCI-E USB-C card (if your system doesn't have a built-in card) from a reputable company before purchasing (I use a card by SONNETT). ). If anyone is using a Thunderbolt connection, be sure to visit the OWC website and download the latest firmware and drivers before use. After setup and before transfer, make sure to format an empty drive first, then go to DISK MANAGEMENT and enable "Write Cache" for better performance (You need to use your operating system to

Don't skimp, get this one. It's worth it.

FYI: I returned a cheap dual docking station that obviously misrepresented its capabilities. Note that cheap devices do NOT support hot plugging. If you remove or add a hard drive, the other is immediately unmounted. The performance of the cheap device I had was terrible too. Good with one drive, but slightly better than USB 2 with both. I mean, that's the whole point. However, the OCW unit is top notch. Each compartment is 100% independent. I used it to zero out about 30 drives (3.5 and 2.5…

Unbelievable - worth paying 3x more

After looking at two cheaper $30 docks I settled on this one and now I'm wondering why I didn't get it sooner. The build quality is fantastic. It just seems professional. It's also well thought out. Cheaper devices have an on/off button. It has a main switch and two additional on/off buttons for the compartments. This means you don't have to turn off both drives to remove one. For some reason, OWC is the only brand capable of embedding a power adapter into a docking station. I've always been…

Fantastic docking station, cables could be better

I used to avoid USB to SATA adapters and docks altogether and only used hot swappable or eSATA SATA backplanes. Both technologies have always been more reliable and faster than USB for me. However, both technologies are dying out or almost dead. Most new cases don't have 5.25 bays for installing SATA backplanes, and eSATA is probably on the list of technologies you'd rather see in A+ certification than in real world will see. right next to the SCSI terminator. So, reluctantly and very…
