🔧 OXO Good Grips 9-Inch Tongs: Precise and Durable with Silicone Heads Review

Tried to find some non-stick pan tongs. The baits I've bought on this quest don't hold the feed properly, the silicone breaks/rips after only a few uses and overall they're chunky and not easy to use. I love these tongs which I bought after looking at Cook's illustrated recommendations. I'm glad I followed her advice.

This item was great. It feels comfortable in the hand and the ends are covered with very tough silicone. The lock is easy and pleasant to open with one hand (I just press it against another surface or against my feet, although it takes two hands to lock it again). If I want to take something out of the toaster before the timer goes off, I can even do it with one hand; Turn off the timer and open the door for her.

They are very strong and very heavy. I was expecting perfection from Oxo so I'm disappointed that the tips don't touch when the tweezers are locked. Since I generally don't need to touch the tips when using them, it's not a big deal. One reviewer remarked that they take on a white, chalky hue, and I noticed that too. I attribute this to the hard water in my area and dry them as soon as I'm done washing and don't let them air dry. So far it has worked.

They are so thick because of the silicone on the tips that I have a hard time picking up food. It's like trying to fix something small with mittens on. I would not buy again. Take regular tongs of the same brand, no silicone, just stainless steel, and you can take anything, the tiniest bits of food, and it's literally an extension of your hand. I always use steel and almost never silicone because they are very difficult to use.

These pliers are of excellent quality and feel good in the hand. They are also very persistent. I bought two of these - one for raw meat/chicken/pork and the other for carefully cooked foods to avoid contamination. I just throw them in the dishwasher - no need to hand wash. In fact, I also have two other sizes of Oxo tongs: 12" and 15". Each size of Oxo tongs serves a purpose both in my kitchen and outside when the boys are grilling.

Bought these silicone tongs because the metal tongs scratch plastic objects and they help. Silicone is durable and has withstood boiling water many times without any change. There are no problems with silicone peeling. However, these pliers are quite heavy and have a lot of resistance, which becomes noticeable after prolonged use. I would also like to buy a longer version but can't complain as the exact length is in the description.
