Puree as advertised. We used it on both potatoes and our whole bean cranberry sauce to make it a mixture of jelly and whole beans and to better integrate the apples, which we also add.

This oxo masher does the job perfectly. When I'm in the mood for mashed potatoes, it's easy to prep some potatoes and add cream, butter, and scallions while I mash the cooked potatoes with this oxo masher.

Don't let the description fool you. Yes, this crusher can mash potatoes, but it can mash a lot more. I use it for potatoes and avocados, but I'm sure it can be used to puree other pureeable foods as well. It is easy to wash as it has no nooks and crannies for pieces of puree to get into and create a rough little living space.

This tamper has a great design for those who enjoy hand blending. We have another design that has some sort of grid, which is a problem because it picks up whatever you're trying to stretch. Not suitable for puree. It has a very ergonomic design that makes it easy to hold in your hand (important when hand pureeing!). It's well made, like every other OXO I've ever bought. Highly recommended.
