Okay, first of all I have to clear up the subject of the negative comments on this product: to all those who write that they have received a used broom, you are all very unwise . The broom has VERY DISTINCTLY light gray bristles at the very bottom of the broom where the bristles begin dark black at the top. This is a great broom and dustpan combo. It is durable yet very light. The rubber rim of the shovel is flush with the ground as you can see in my photo. This means that what I sweep in the pan doesn't go under the pan, as noted by several other reviewers. My broom bristles are slightly lighter in the bottom quarter.
