Doesn't filter all chlorine

Very disappointed with this filter. The original Pentek filter supplied with the filter system filters out all free chlorine and total chlorine. This one I bought from Revain doesn't live up to that standard. Buy from reputable sources. I have included 2 different test strips, one each for filtered and unfiltered water.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Upgrades

Great and they work.

These 3 packs are a great deal and we can keep a filter for around 2-2.5 months. No matter what type of filter you have, the water will taste weird when you first turn it on, so we turn it all the way to cold and let it run for 5 seconds, after that the water tastes great. But if you drink right away, then the taste is definitely chlorine.

Difficult. You get what you paid for.

The best. I tried to save some money by choosing another brand which was the worst. They make them use less carbon. This one weighs a lot more. Spend the extra money and stick with Pentek for all your filtering needs. This is a health post and not the best way to cut costs. I have nothing to do with this company, did not receive anything for this review, I also rarely give 5 stars.

  • Handy thing

Zero Water Button: water filtration and softening

Just installed at Big Blue today. Own two of the world's most special water drinkers and use jugs from Zero Water (Pur isn't good enough and is fed up with reverse osmosis taking up too much space). We're on the water off Florida City, so sediment isn't a factor. After tasting the water from the jar, both of them were very happy and could not taste the water at all. You are happy and so am I. I hope they get a lot of life out of it.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Slightly torn

satisfies my paranoia

1) Not too expensive 2) I have heavily iron loaded deep well water and a brine tar water system; I love the concept of the activated carbon filter 3) the whole house filter comes before the watermaker 4) as its use contributes to the accumulation of solid particles in the faucets, water heaters, pipes etc. now "zero"! 5) but at 10 microns with carbon, the water pressure drop is your key to replace it every 10-20 days depending on usage; Don't expect a full month unless you get to 20 microns

made of carcinogenic material. Needless to say I am returning it. Proposition 65 or not, the manufacturer needs to figure out how to make a drinking water filter that is free of potentially carcinogenic materials, no matter how small the amount. None of the other water filters I buy have this warning.

Pros
  • Easy-to-read control panel
Cons
  • For the elderly

I have purchased this filter in the past but have just received a label stating the filter is made of carcinogenic material. Needless to say I am returning it. Attention, this filter does not fit in all housings!

Lesson learned. I checked the packaging for damage upon arrival knowing I wouldn't install it straight away but never thought to measure it! These filters are 1/8" longer than my filter housing requires. I only found the inconsistency when trying to install it and it was leaking. Of course the old filter was 19-3/4" and now it is 19-7/8". ". And of course the return window is long gone so now I'm stuck with two filters I can't use and wasting a lot of money.

Pros
  • FITS ALL 20" Big Blue and other 20" heavy duty cases and can replace any 20" x 4.5" charcoal water filter cartridge
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Pentek filters always work.

Like all Pentek filters I've used, this one does exactly what it's supposed to do. Before spending a few hundred dollars on a whole house carbon filter, I tried the Pentex Big Blue. It is used to remove chlorine entering city water before the water softener. Based on the rated capacity of the filters, the chlorine levels in the plumbing and our water usage, the filter should last 6 months. Before purchasing this replacement for the original filter (same brand and model) I tested the water after
