It works well! If you want to "charge " the resin with salt water, you first have to do a trick.

This softens our FL hard water very well. However, note the small capacity (750 grains). Get a water test kit to see how useful it will be for you. For example, the water quality kit showed that our water contained about 20 grains per gallon. 750/20 = 37.5 gallons of softened water until the resin is used up. However, you can charge it with salt water, which greatly increases its lifespan. DO NOT throw the cartridge in salt water like I did in the beginning. it will not charge (or it will be…

It's a fabric softener cartridge and it works.

I use them in a pair configuration (this first, then a charcoal filter for flavor and solids) in conjunction with my espresso machine's feed water. Hard water is very bad for your expensive coffee maker; it forms scale in the boiler and will eventually destroy it if not prevented or cleaned. Open this immediately - my second filter is completely broken - filter works fine

I used these filters to reduce the water hardness in our apartment (which cannot support a traditional water softener which requires salt to be replaced and lots of space. These filters need to be changed frequently as they have a limited lifespan. I have re-ordered two of the Pentek WS--20BB (I always try to have one on hand as I measure the water hardness and sometimes I need to change the filter switch to the manufacturer's recommended gallons it can handle.)
