The best of all writing and proofreading tools

I illustrate comics and this is the best brush pen I have ever used. Unfortunately, I screwed up my first one by trying to unscrew the ink tank counter-clockwise. I got angry and flipped it over until the ink spattered everywhere. Apparently the Japanese "left-handed whore" doesn't apply? Turn clockwise to fill.

This handle can be cracked for longer life.

I love the permanent ink and the variety of lines this pen can produce. Used for writing in Japan, I use them for drawing. The gray barrel is filled with ink. tank barrels for sale. When my original stick runs out, I press the barrel to refill with bottled mascara. The bristles of the brush are decent, so this lifehack adds several months to the lifespan of the brush handle.

Has a good brush tip but be careful!

I thought I would break this pen in half to unscrew it and remove the red seal to allow the ink to flow. After 5 minutes it finally came loose and most of the ink ran out of the pen as I had to hold it so tight. It has a very good point and holds more ink than other Pentel brush pens. But the mess and hassle of losing most of the ink and the mess they caused is not worth it. I'll stick with an old sable brush and an inkwell.

Pros
  • This is awesome

  • Speed

Want a good brush at a great price? start here

I have an artist friend who recommended this brush at a recent exhibition. I quickly forgot his brand recommendation and decided to find my own. The first thing that came to mind failed. Only one brush was the right size for me and when it was full it had a serious leaking problem. Did I mention I use them as ink? I humbly contacted my friend to remind me of the brand. A few dollars and a few weeks later I will never forget his recommendation.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Infinitely slow

Good product, worth the price

The tip of the brush is hard enough to get a clean straight line, but with a little pressure you can get a thick line. The ink dries quickly, which can be a plus or a minus if the user intends to smudge the ink to create a shadow effect on the drawing. Based on my experience of using it regularly (not as a professional or amateur), it's good for drawing drawings. The only problem so far is that when using it you have to move the brush across the paper to get the ink to flow evenly. For example,

Sketch with thin, thick lines without the mess!

Received my fine tip brush today, so far so good. It will definitely take some practice to control my hand to fine tune the weight of the lines. The tip of the brush stayed nice and lush throughout my sketch and never had to be applied to the tip more than once. There is absolutely no comparison between a felt tip pen/highlighter and this Pentel Brush Pen. Important Note: Before using the grip, the RED RING must be removed by unscrewing the grip just below the black mark. (It might be a good…

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Not trendy

I've been using these pens since they came out. They are amazingly smooth. Slight adjustments of pressure and angle produce an endless array of results, from thin straight lines to bold thick lines ending in receding swirls. I mainly use them for illustrations, although they're also great for filling in the black background of black and white photos printed on matte (not glossy) paper. A super fine brush tip is required. The lids hold securely. What surprises me the most is the massive drop in…
