I stocked them up and used salt and pepper grinders to make dinner. Both worked fine, but as soon as I finished, the salt shaker stopped working. Nothing will rub. You would think I would get more than one use of this! Even disposable coffee grinders work better/longer than these.

EDIT: Less than a year later one of the coffee grinders broke and could not be repaired. Very disappointed. Really cool, easy to fill up, I like to adjust the roughness level. The silicone docking station is also very nice, it is very practical and keeps the countertop clean. Also, having the grinder on top rather than on the bottom is more hygienic and prevents salt and pepper from spilling all over the place.

We replaced a super cheap salt and pepper mill set with this set and are very happy with it. Another set had salt and pepper spilling out from the bottom and there was no lid so they messed up our counters and stove. This set comes out from the top and the lids keep it clean and prevent salt and pepper spills all over the kitchen. They look nice and hold more pepper and salt than our old coffee grinders.

These grinders have a very small capacity, which means you'll have to turn them 10 or more times just to get the amount of pepper that's the size of your fingernail. Also, one of the two windmills in this set was not working. do not produce coarse pepper at all (for steaks and other seasonings for meat); Even on the lowest setting (which should produce coarse pepper) the output was more like pepper "dust". These grinders are excellent value for the price I bought them for. I "felt" the grind on my previous grinders, but these grinders are surprisingly smooth.
