They are very good because they offer some separation between foot and calf protection through the pocket. They are also very breathable so I think the benefits are clear. These work very well. I will likely buy more if needed.

Nice material but thinner than expected. The large adult size is perfect if you have large calves. I have lean muscular calves and they sag a bit, the material is smooth, it won't stay in place unless stretched to fit.

My 9 year old has been a long time football player but recently came home with an itchy rash on his calves. He usually wore shields next to his skin with protective socks over them. I washed his shin guards, but it went on. Found these sleeves and VOILA! The rash is gone and the shin guards are still there! Ideal!

For reference, these are socks ONLY, NO shin guards. However, having bought the shin guards separately my 6 year old still enjoys wearing both, they seem comfortable and I love that we have a backup plan in case he outgrows the shin strap. But I would appreciate it if it could be said more clearly that this is a sock and not a hard shin pad.

I like that these shin guards have a protective pocket, but I still tape them to keep them from bending as they don't provide enough protection on their own. Still better than just a compression sleeve around the entire shin guard, but wish they held up without tape. **Update** after a few weeks they fall apart, lose all elasticity and tear. waste of money.

Does what it's supposed to! My son has very severe eczema from shin pads. They are very easy for my 11 year old to put on. He still uses shin pads in addition to sleeves because he feels they move even without them. The cuffs are inserted in such a way that they are not in direct contact with the shin guard foam. At this price I bought several packs so he always has a clean fresh pair! I wash my face after every wear and my skin is clear! :)

Well my son has been using them for a few months now and he loves them! He doesn't go to training or the game without her. We've tried elastic bands, double socks, strappy shin guards, and nothing has been as comfortable as these. They still slip a bit but definitely better than the rest for us. I only wish the lockers were a bit longer as the small guards my son already uses tend to rise when worn. They don't come off completely, but every once in a while he has to put them back in his pocket.

I bought these for roller derby because the sleeves that came with my shin guards were wearing from the ground. This has the advantage that the pockets are on the sorting side, so if I slip the shin guard is more likely to come out rather than rip holes in the fabric of the sleeve. The downside is that because they have short pockets, I keep pulling them up to keep the shin pads in place. I wear them inside out and tuck them under my knee pads to keep them in place. I guess I can't complain…
