Enhance Ignition Performance with the PerTronix 40011 Flame Thrower Volt Coil Review

How do you measure 30000V+? I think you need some kind of scope, right? I don't have one, but the coil gives a strong stable spark. I hooked it up to an unknown Hong Kong brand igniter, removed the resistance, increased the spacing by a few thousandths and so far so good. It seems that the force has led me in the right direction.

Was a replacement for an old heavy duty coil and ignited straight away, no problems, good finish and spark. Basically, it does whatever you want it to do. I didn't notice much improvement in driving, mainly due to the fact that I changed the carburettor and the wiring on the engine at the same time, so who knows where to find an improvement.

Run OEM Modified Electronic Manifold on BBM, use FBO lock plate and modified springs. The coil was my weak link. My first choice was the PerTroniix Flamethrower and it didn't let me down. With the old US made ECU and Firecore wires the ignition is stable up to 6500 which is above my peak but still pulls. Great reel for the money!

Installs in minutes. I decided to check that my Mallory's pointless ignition was working. Connected the output of the coil to a grounded spark plug and started the engine. Until I noticed that the test plug had come out of the cable socket and was half an inch away from it. The coil produced a nice thick blue spark across this gap 20 times normal. Yes it works. The little Block 302 caught fire instantly and ran smoothly like a champ.

still working after 4 months with igniter 1 stock 4bbl 67327 don't know how long it lasts with other upgraded electric load modules. a slightly larger diameter than the standard spool, so a longer clamping screw was needed to hold it. I also scraped off the paint in the clip to make sure it only grounds a little twist in the clip so it's cheap paint. The threaded wire posts are a little short for any ring terminal lugs I put on one. and I despise those coils that don't have a solid metal base…
