Perfect upgrade for our MGB with Pertronix II ignition. This is not compatible with the original Pertronix ignition, but is the correct coil for both ballasted and non-ballasted applications. B hasn't worked this great in 20 years! The update took a long time.

Powerful 12 volt ignition coil. While testing the setup, I unplugged the high voltage wire and saw a 3 inch spark coming out of the top connector where the wire should have gone. I am convinced that a spark plug gap of 0.025 will ignite under all conditions. I use this in conjunction with Pertronics Ignitor II.

I purchased this coil after installing a Pertronix 1281 electronic ignition converter and encountering some problems. This seems to have fixed that issue, although it's entirely possible that any new coil could have done so. Aside from the tag it looks stock with good clamps and screws and they put their tag on to hide it. I would buy again.

Check the Revain and Pertronix website to see if this is compatible with the original igniter system. I haven't found anything that says it doesn't, so I figured for $5-10 more I could get a higher voltage coil. When I received the coil, the first line of the instructions warned that it could not be used with the "original ignition system". Otherwise, I'm willing to bet it's a good role.

My boat (1985 Regal Medallion) Mercruiser 120 4cyl was converted to an electronic ignition system (Pertronix Ignitor 2) and used this coil. I upgraded the system after having problems with my stock 6v resistor system. Reverted the system to a full 12v and added this Pertronix Kit added almost without problems. Tip: Use a marker to mark the position of the rotor at TDC for cylinder 1, as well as the approximate position of the ignition timing system (if equipped).
