HIGH QUALITY: The GLACIER LITERIDE's high-quality steel pick is identical to technical ice axe picks. The pick is designed to make cutting steps, anchoring, and penetrating hard snow easy. The anodized aluminum handle resists rusting. LIGHTWEIGHT: Weighing in at only 320 grams, the GLACIER LITERIDE won't weigh you down on long treks and climbs. COMPACT: The GLACIER LITERIDE is only 50 cm in length, allowing for easy transportation when attached to your pack. EASY TO USE: This ice axe features a handle cut into the shaft that provides you better grip when technical ice climbing. Additionally, the upper part of the pick offers excellent grip and serves as a comfortable support surface. EXTRAS: Both the head and spike of the GLACIER LITERIDE are equipped with holes for clipping a carabiner or attaching a sling.

Excellent, Lightweight.: Ice Ax

Excellent ice penetration, used in winter for climbing Mount Washington and practicing self-defense and belaying on snow/ice. Super light, I've also used it for light ice climbing and rock climbing - in small sections of 20-30 feet at around 80 degrees.

Well-designed tool: Climbing ax

The 50 cm length is a little short for a hiking axe, but is a good compromise between weight and utility. The choice is great for moderate ice/snow. Kirka rides well on hard snow. All in all a fantastic product that offers a certain level of security at a limited weight.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other pickaxes

Strong, balanced and beautiful

This ax simply feels better than other axes. The balance is perfect, the spike is very sharp and the teeth are stubborn. You record it and want to rock it. It weighs next to nothing but hits the snow hard. This is by far the best ice ax I've tried in this price range. If you're looking for a small ice ax, get this one.

So you can't just use it as a walking stick like most can.

On a five day summer glacier hike my buddies were jealous that my ax was so light! It's fairly short, so you can't use it as a walking stick as easily as most climbers do. But I feel like if it's tough enough to really need it then the length is good. I like that it's small and light because you don't use it very often.

Great ice ax but CHECK YOUR SIZE

I bought this because it's beautiful (my favorite color is blue) and light weight. I highly recommend measuring before purchasing to ensure it is the right size for you. I'm about 5ft 5in and it was too short and not functional for me so I had to replace it. I don't hate the quality or the product at all, I just want to warn people to pay attention to the size so you don't end up buying anything new :)

Great lightweight ice ax

Great ax for alpine hiking. This ax is exactly the same as the longer and heavier axes, but the shaft is shorter. I wouldn't consider this for a multi-day expedition, but I don't use it for that. If I were more experienced and knew better what to use it for I would choose the CAMP Corsa Nanotech Ax 50 ice ax as it's really only good insurance on a few slopes on the types of hikes I do where most are on lying in soft snow. where you don't necessarily have to stop to stop your slide. The lighter…
