RGB backlight without price RGB

This is an amazing discovery for those who want to give their PC a "gamer" look without paying a "gamer" price. Before I start, a quick note: If you don't have a Phanteks case or their RGB controller, you NEED their Phanteks RGB LED 4-pin adapter designed for cases with RGB multi-color control (PH-CB_RGB4P) . You will also need a compatible motherboard. Most Z270, Z370, X299 and X399 "gaming" motherboards have RGB headers. There are others but I can't remember all of them and I'm sure you…

Pros
  • regular price
Cons
  • Everything fits

Useless: Computer components

Slightly understated recessed lighting is all I wanted. It should glow evenly on dark blades behind tinted glass. A touch of the world. Difficult. With taste. That's all I wanted. Instead I got the headache of my life and it all depends on the connectors. They can be daisy chained, but each fan appears to be wired to receive and transmit, requiring two different heads on the cable instead of a double ended cable. An elegant cable management solution is therefore not possible in the housing…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

A great way to dress up performance fans.

This was a great way to decorate my Noctua industrial fan. I just attached it to the end of my Phanteks RGB LED strips and it was ready to use. The density of the LEDs is good. It definitely looks better than the 4 LED fan I replaced. I wonder how it will look on my U12S CPU cooler.

  • Sequins

They work but: Computers and accessories

After finally installing them on the fans, I moved them to the back of my case (Smoky Silverstone 140mm x3), them give good lighting and don't make me look half bad. I've chained them to other RGB fans on the front, but unfortunately the pins on all three are different or something, and the colors are reversed. I'm leaving them all white for now to fix the problem, but I'm not sure how to fix this yet. Luckily, white is perfect for my physique. EDIT: Apparently this requires a proprietary…

  • Very good value for money

  • I won't say anything

Uninformative product descriptions

Had to buy the 3 pin version first, couldn't connect it to gigabyte motherboard. Instructions are not included with the product and are not on this product page. Then bought a 4 pin version, they are connected and working. However, apart from the 3-pin version working, you need a special adapter that comes with the motherboard that changes the 3-pin to "4-pin" for addressable RGB. Does Phanteks mention anything about what contacts their Halo comes with? Of course not. Does it mention you need…

Pros
  • Fine workmanship
Cons
  • Long wait

Make RGB fans cheap?

I first tested the Phanteks Halos Lux for my YouTube channel and found it to be a great way to add some color to your existing case fans if you have an RGB enabled Phanteks case and /or have a compatible ASUS motherboard. Gigabyte or MSI with RGB connector. But I wanted to know if the cheaper Halos are worth a look for those who don't want to spend $20 on a Lux. There are a few differences between Halos and Halos Lux, all aesthetic. Lux is made of aluminum while regular Halos are plastic, Lux…

They look really cool, but installation is a bit of a hassle.

The effect is really nice even on matte gray fans. LEDs scatter pretty well so for the most part it looks more like a nice solid ring of light than individual LEDs. I already had a Phanteks RGB strip so I had all the hardware to connect it to the RGB header on my motherboard but if this is your first Phanteks RBG product you will need their branded adapter cable as they not match your motherboard rgb header with what is included for that particular item. My only complaint is that they have to…

Not wine Fantex

Asus Aura sync people Listen! OK if you have a 3-pin RGB connector on the Asus MoBo; BREAK. You want Halo Digital Lux, not the cheaper Halo. Asus actually has 2 DIFFERENT aura timing systems! A 4-pin (12V) and a 3-pin (5V). Unfortunately; This is NOT common knowledge and I only found out after calling Fantex. Looks like I'll be returning my cheaper Halo devices.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Fading
