📀 Philips DVD-R 4.7 GB 16X, 50-Pack Spindle Review

I have always found Philips products to be of excellent quality and these discs are no exception. They work well with my computer and produce nicely readable files and sharp images.

First off, let me say that I haven't had any issues with the drives themselves so far. I've burned about half a dozen data discs and haven't had any problems with them. I had a problem with the packaging. They didn't come on a spindle, just a stack of welded-in disks. The cartridge case burst and I had discs in the box they were sent in. Luckily I had a spare spindle to put on all the discs. It's still pretty annoying though.

I haven't found that some DVD media is better than another brand but I haven't dared to try one of the most versatile media, so I can't say, the cheapest things are equally good or not. Basically I bought brands I'd heard of and went with the cheapest, in this case Philips DVD, and I'm very satisfied. In other words, it works. The cost was less than Staples and I didn't have to pay shipping with the Revain Pro. Convenient and inexpensive.

I've been using Philips DVD-R discs for many years and I've never had a problem with a bad disc or bad recording quality. I don't record from my computer but from my DVD burner (I have several brands) so I can't tell if they are compatible with PC burning software. I have not used this pack but have used other Phillips discs with reasonable results. I keep reading different reviews of all blank DVDs and they all give mixed reviews. My purchase decision is based on price and performance. If they do what they have to do, I'm happy. I know that when using a burner you have to be careful to copy at the right speed. I usually set the speed below the recommended maximum. This seems to leave a margin of error so the final burn works every time.

The first ten DVDs I burned were ok but the rest of the whole pack didn't glow! Tried on 3 different recording devices, on 2 different computers, in 3 different recording programs. I ended up having to email the seller and get a new package (seller was great btw) and I just open it and use it now. It seems to be working, but I won't hold my breath.
