Not the best choice. - TV & Video

I've only had this DVD player for 2 months so it's fairly new. The DVD plays well one minute and is muted the next. He does this from time to time with every DVD I have. The company doesn't want to help. You should not waste your time with this product.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Slightly dented

It was great. BEFORE? good for tv and video

I've had this player for 6 months now and it was great, the sound, quality and picture was great and then one day it just froze. It won't read DVDs anymore, I thought maybe it was just dirty so I bought a DVD cleaner but to my disappointment. Accident, I'll let you know what happens after I speak to the pioneer. :( Pioneer BTY didn't help. This unit was junk without a doubt. Now I have a Sony DVP-c670d, I'm 7 months old and it works great.

Great DVD player at a great price.

Yes, the loading noise is louder than usual, but movies, DVDs and VCDs load very quickly. Fast forward, rewind, slow motion, resume play is very, very fast. You might think the film is on a hard drive. Should be a good buffer. Plays all DVDs and VCDs I have unlike other players. The only problem is that it's too big, wider and a bit higher than my Quasar HiFi VCR. The other features are also good. The specs are a little bigger than I expected. (.) I choose Pioneer because they are better brands

Really good value for money!

I bought this DVD player to replace a one year old Panasonic DVD player. My old couldn't decompress full screen videos when taxed. Scenes like water when the whole screen changes were too big so it would look like satellite TV when it's raining really, really hard. I also looked at some other cheaper players but found this progressive scan one to be of amazing quality. Progressive scan basically means that videos are recorded twice as fast. I think you must have an RGB input on your TV, whichโ€ฆ

Big! although it shouldn't be true Progressive

I was very hesitant to buy this player because I read that the progressive scan in this model is not 'true' progressive but doubles the lines. But for the price I thought I might use it in the bedroom if I had to buy "real" progressives in the future. When I brought it home and hooked it up to my Toshiba 43HX70 I was very impressed with the picture quality, it felt like an HDTV to me. Looks amazing, the picture is so sharp and clean! I wouldn't spend money on a "real" progressive scan at thisโ€ฆ

  • Great for me

Great all-in-one player plus progressive output!

I bought this player after seeing a picture of a similar Toshiba unit with the progressive scan output turned on and off to compare the difference. The progressive scan output (available only when using the component video outputs) delivers a much more film-like picture; smoother and virtually no horizontal scan lines. Customize in expert mode allows you to customize the display and features to your liking. There is also a "Default" setting for beginners. I compared the picture from thisโ€ฆ

Best value for money

We bought this DVD player to use progressive scan on our Mitsubishi Diamond Series 65 inch HDTV projection TV. For the price you pay, this DVD player is a great buy! We compared the player to other DVD players including Toshiba SD 5109 and JVC 723GD. It was a little blurrier compared to Toshiba's Pioneer models, but that was only after we switched the input picture back on our TV, meaning you probably won't notice the difference unless you decide to look for it the difference (very small in myโ€ฆ
