Description of Pirelli Scorpion ATR 185/75 R16 93T all season
The Pirelli Scorpion ATR all-season passenger tire is one of the most successful attempts by the renowned Italian manufacturer to create a tire for SUVs, crossovers and pickups, perfect for driving both on the expressway and on rough terrain. This model features an exceptionally wide range of sizes, starting with 205/70R15 and ending with the gigantic 325/45R24. Such a wide range of sizes, numbering more than three dozen options, allows this tire to be used on the vast majority of off-road passenger cars.
Tread pattern design Italian tire manufacturers, in an effort to provide the tire with excellent performance on any type of surface, preferred to use a tread with a symmetrical non-directional pattern, the design of which only remotely resembles the letter S. The central part of the tread consists of three longitudinal ribs, each of which is a separate row, consisting of separately standing blocks.
In the very center of the tread there is a series of blocks located at a very short distance from each other. This made it possible to form a practically integral longitudinal rib, due to which the Pirelli Scorpion ATR tire demonstrates excellent directional stability when driving on the highway. Two adjacent longitudinal ribs are also separate blocks, which are distinguished by a complex configuration, replete with many corners and sharp edges.
The shoulder zones of the tread are distinguished by an aggressive, almost rectangular profile, which, on the one hand, provides a large area of the contact patch, and on the other hand, its almost rectangular shape. Such a constructive solution made it possible to achieve excellent grip on dry roads, as well as optimal distribution of pressure over the entire contact patch, and, therefore, uniform tread wear, which significantly increased tire life. In addition, the tread shoulder zones are two additional rows of massive and high blocks, the side part of which contains several sharp edges and corners. This design of the shoulder zones significantly expands the tire''s ability to overcome difficult off-road sections.
Highly efficient drainage systemIn addition to quickly and effectively removing water from the contact patch, the Pirelli Scorpion ATR tire for SUVs must have a tread with good self-cleaning performance. For these purposes, the central part of the tread is equipped with two wide longitudinal drainage grooves, as well as numerous transverse curved channels. When driving on a wet highway, the curved shape of the channels contributes to faster and more efficient removal of water from the contact patch, and the large size of the drainage grooves allow the tread to easily get rid of dirt and stones that accumulate on off-road.
Excellent structural strengthWhen creating the tire, its designers took into account the possibility of frequent visits without
