I didn't like that they needed a little buffing from the top because my hair would get caught in the rest of the material, so I pulled them out from the bottom up rather than the top down because it was less painful that way. 40 was just enough, I had 1 left. I bought these to wrap strands of wool around them and make wavy doll hair. My instructions say to use knitting needles, but who has that many? These work great. I take a small strand of wool roving, twist it a little to make it tighter, drop it in the water and wrap it around the poles. Once dry, I roll out perfect spirals of wool to sew the felt into my doll's head. Couldn't be happier. I was happy to find a set of all quarter inch sizes.

I finally tried them! . took time to figure it out. But once I did that and learned to make the sections smaller and wrap evenly from root to tip, it worked great (with gel). *Important: Don't lose the small red clips. (I took 5 extra pieces).
