Great working hard drive?!? it's as useful as a brick! wtff!?!

"This hard drive is a good product and I still use it. It contains my entire system and I recommend it to everyone. It is fast and reliable" UPDATE: I have it now has problems with detection when loading. Is this the fourth time I'm trying to reinstall Windows on it? Well, this is the second time I have to install Windows 8 on it and my computer is having trouble recognizing it. Let me tell you something, if a disk cannot be "recognized" it is called "bricked". useless useless thing that cannot

Pros
  • Like all before
Cons
  • I am concerned

Drive was good approx

I bought this hard drive almost a year ago in December 2014. This computer it was installed on was used intermittently as I have three computers. I had Windows 8.1 installed and then upgraded to Windows 10 with no problems. The drive was solid until a few days ago. I turned on the computer and it was looking for an operating system! The hard drive has failed. I tried the drive on another computer and it wasn't recognized. As a result, the disc worked about a year later.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Insanely slow

That's easy. They work.

I bought two of these to upgrade two 120GB SSDs running in RAID 0 on an Adaptec 6405E RAID controller. So far they've been great. I didn't run any benchmarks, but the boot time is almost instantaneous once I've passed BIOS boot. There were no problems with Windows 8.1. This is my first experience with PNY and I am happy with the result. Improves the performance of a cheap laptop

I bought my kids a cheap Windows 8 touchscreen laptop ($250 off) (10 inch display) and it was painfully slow. I connected this SSD to my kid's computer and bam. It's almost as responsive as my thousand dollar car. Of course, installing and rebooting the operating system is always a big headache, and SSDs usually don't have that much capacity. , but now my kids love their laptop and won't complain about wanting to use mine.

A pretty good SSD size and a good Cyber Monday price.

Got this unit cheap on Cyber Monday and just got around to writing a review. contain SATA cables or mounting screws. I think it's good that I've been building systems since 1984 and have tons of extra screws and spare parts. Pros: Light weight Fast operation (I won't bore you with all the specs of the device) Cons: No mounting screws and no SATA cable, so better make sure you already have one. Installation: I was able to clone my old C drive which was another smaller SSD and the cloning process

Easy to install, quiet, works.

Good drive. It's on the netbook I'm typing on right now. I bought it to turn a netbook into a spinning, noisy drive. Works like a champ. What I didn't know (and probably neither do you) is that they aren't the same thickness as a typical laptop hard drive. If your laptop depends on the thickness of the drive to hold it in place, then you're out of luck here. PNY has supplied it with a spacer ring the same size as the disc to take up the required space. If you installed it on a desktop PC, you…

Pros
  • Useful not only for the intended purpose
Cons
  • For the elderly

Cheap and functional. Take a decisive step.

Ok after reading the reviews I admit I was a bit wary with this SSD. Now, after installing it on my four year old laptop, it's my turn to review this PNY SSD. Out of the box you have an SSD and a Pad. All I had to do was transfer information from my old hard drive to my SSD docking station using Acronis. After the transfer was complete, I simply swapped out the hard drives in the laptop, rebooted, and was good to go. Before I removed the old drive, I calculated the boot time from power on to…

430MB/s Read, 3.2MB/s/Write

I bought this drive because I've been a fan of PNY RAM in the past. After installing Windows 8.1 and watching the boot time on my HP Z600, I was impressed, but it was slow at times. After some testing, I was constantly finding that writing to disk was slow (copy/paste, loading cached web pages, etc.). After testing the drive, I found that all writes were below 5MB/s. It's just stupid. I thought it was just my SATA controller or bios update or something. But after updating bios and drivers the…

Simple SSD with excellent performance

There is nothing special about this SSD. Just your average budget is 120GB SSD. I bought mine on Black Friday for $49. Now I know there are reviews that talk about reliability issues with this drive, but mine has lasted 3 months so far, so it wasn't a fluke. Packaging is simple and includes the PNY Optima SSD itself in an anti-static bag. A pad for laptops or other devices that require a 9.5mm drive (the drive is 7mm thick, so if your laptop uses this type of drive you should be fine) and the…
