Try it before your trip; not my case.

Just tried this for the first time with a 150w portable immersion heater. The "LoBat" light flashed on his display, so I started the car, but it didn't matter. My car put out 13.5 volts to the power outlet and cigarette lighter (both 20A fuses). The inverter showed a power consumption of 100 watts. Then it stopped working at all and wouldn't turn on. My cup of water was almost half warm. I don't have any tea for that. I haven't been home to get a small screwdriver to take it apart and check the

Great unit but security cable has issues

Bought 2 of these and they are great. I really like having a digital display showing how much power I'm using. In one event I was able to start it using the cigarette lighter plug. This got the end of the fork pretty hot, but it was in the power band. At another event, I exceeded my cigarette lighter limit and the fuse blew. However, I cannot remove the fuse, perhaps due to previous use. Not sure if it melted into the plastic due to the high heat previously or some other reason, but I don't…

Brings you down when you need it most.

We ordered this for delivery ahead of Hurricane Irma, we have a 300w inverter that we use now when the power goes out. Since there were no more generators anywhere we figured that would at least give us some power, but we were wrong. We tried to connect it via the cigarette lighter and the battery, we read all the instructions and followed them exactly. We couldn't even get this thing to run a small fan without blowing a fuse and tried putting it in different cars and all. We tested every…

Ideal for use outdoors, in an emergency or on the construction site.

Bought this to use when my house had a power outage but took it to work damn it one day and got a job . I thought I would take it along with the truck to use the battery. Plugged in the clamps and hooked up an angle grinder to it and worked like a charm, especially for a total of 3 hours. There was some doubt as to whether it would actually perform as advertised and meet my expectations. I just ordered another one because my chief mechanic was impressed and wanted one. In fact, I might get…

A good inverter works well, but QC needs to be activated.

This inverter works as advertised. The display is nice and bright. The included cables are of good quality and there are some good power options. I tested it on a drill press with the fan on and it worked with no issues. Showing the draw on the display is a great feature that sets this Potek inverter apart from others. The controls are easy to use and understand. Cons: The only issue I had with this inverter was that it had a loose screw from the box. There was a rumble in the suitcase. How…

Loud as a banshee and went out of action after a few uses

I bought this product to power my cabin at night by plugging in some batteries - the existing alternator was overkill. The product feels solid, the battery cables are well sized and the digital display provides relevant information. Anywhere between 100 and 300 watts the fan turns on however, I got tired of plugging anything in to find the magic load. However, the fan is very loud. Volume examples follow. I could hear the fan 20 feet away through the closed interior door. I could hear the fan…

Still working after 4 years

March 21st 2021: I bought this machine in August 2017 so finally decided to do a long term review on it. I bought it to connect to a very large deep cycle battery to power a small TV and other medium powered devices while hiking. So, after almost four years of use, here's my assessment. It still works. Just be careful not to short the wires when connecting to the battery. In other words, do not connect the red wire to the black (negative) side of the battery or you will immediately blow the…
