Works well. Need a better detection range.

Looks very very strong in the few weeks we have been using it. I've only used it on a giant Dutch block of Gouda. This works really well for the actual cutting part, but god I wish there was a smoother gripping part, this thing hurts my fingers like a nut!

Tighter tolerances are required.

The wire should be tighter. The thickness adjuster needs to be a tighter fit in the housing it is inserted into. Due to a messy fit, you will need extra time to ensure the distance between the wire and the roller is equal on both sides so the cut is the same thickness. The thickness adjuster locking knob should be taller and larger in diameter for easier gripping. Not the best, but it will do.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • So-so

Good sturdy slicer seems to be very durable

Seems to be fairly well made and good solid cutting wire. I've used it a few times already and it looks like it should hold up really well. There were no instructions as to whether it could be washed in the dishwasher, but I still do it regularly because I feel like it gets its deepest cleaning after every few uses and hand washing from time to time.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Expensive

Doesn't work very well.

I was very disappointed. I thought it would be nice to be able to customize it, but this feature doesn't work. it won't stay in place, so you'll have to tighten it. Also, if you use it to cut, it won't cut through the whole piece because the metal holding the wire is too thick to fully adhere to the surface to fully cut through. It was just a waste of money. Do not worry.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • May damage

Wire is weak and pliable

UPDATE: Received today and the wire is so slack that it cannot cut a slice less than 1/4 inch (or thicker) thick. The wire moves each slice in a range from the thickness I started with to over 1/4 inch. There's no point in lowering it and re-tightening the screw since the wire is so weak it bends in the middle. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this. I can't get the pan screw tight enough that it doesn't come loose when cutting. Otherwise it's pretty much as expected. My old one had a lever/slider that you…

Not a very good piece of cheese.

It was inexpensive and it shows. With previous cheese slicers, I could easily cut any cheese size I wanted. Cheese is more difficult to cut with it than with a knife. I could barely get the wire through the cheese. I felt like the wire would snap trying to go through the cheese and the adjustment knob didn't work. It's losing and slipping. It's true, you get what you pay for. The only plus point is the easy cleaning.

Pros
  • Great for a small home

  • Zero

Cheese tool imperfect design

While I like this general design format, this product has some flaws in implementation. The adjustable roller seemed like a desirable feature, but the implementation in this slicer is imperfect. It uses a single screw in the middle, which isn't enough for two reasons: it can't be hand tightened to prevent slipping, and even with a tightening tool it will still rock back and forth. Therefore, designs that use a pair of set screws are inherently superior. Another major downside is the way the…
