The best way to remove a rusty spindle!

Combined with a 5 pound slide hammer, this socket allowed me to remove the spindles on a 1976 Dana 44 that's guaranteed to be rustier than anything you're working on. No amount of sledgehammer hits weakened him, but 10 minutes was enough. Do yourself a favor and get the right tool for the job. This rosette is well made, with thick walls and a beautiful finish. There are three thread sizes inside. My Dana 44 used a medium size. Any slide hammer with a 5/8" thread on the shank will do.

Pros
  • This is Amazing
Cons
  • Some Bugs

Had to remove some rusty northbound belt spindles from the 97 F350 front axle. It threads perfectly on 2" spindles, perfect for my 5/8 slide hammer. It took about 15 minutes on each side to pry the spindle out of the ankle. No thread damage and I didn't touch the tool at all. Do yourself a favor and bring a 10-pound slide hammer. I used a 5 pound slide hammer and my hands still hurt days later from the number of hits it took. All in all fantastic value for money, payback in 1 job.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

Fantastic tool - a MUST for you!

The previous owner did quite a bit with my spline nuts, definitely used a chisel or screwdriver and cut corners on all 4 cutouts. I have been able to remove nuts with this tool, the "teeth" are long enough to grab the remains of the nut if you have the same problem as me. I used it to install new spindle nuts on my 1987 Ford Bronco 5.0 XLT with a Dana 44 front end. I was able to tighten the outer nut to the required 200 ft-lbs. The tool is worth buying. I would prefer you buy the tool than…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
