Two 71380 will not fit 3/8-16 bits

I recently bought a 3/8-16 bit Set and key 71380 t marked "for 3/8-16 bits". I have no problems with inserts - they work perfectly. However, the T button is too small for 3/8-16 inserts. I haven't tested it with a thread checker to see what it really is. I reported the issue to Revain and they sent me another one. It's the same size as the first. I'm not sure if Powertec received a bad (mislabeled) batch or something like that. I called them to see what they have to say. I would like the…

They did what I needed, which is 5 stars

They are a little tricky to install. At first I tried using a large screwdriver but the bits always went wrong. So I came up with a scheme to use my drill press. I took a 1/4-20 hex screw and cut off the hex head. Then I threw it in my drill press, screwed a 1/4-20 screw into the unthreaded portion of the screw. I removed the belt from the drill press to turn the chuck by hand with a pulley. I then screwed one of the inserts onto the eyelet, lowered the spring, centered the insert over the…

Good Inserts = Stronger than Brass

I'm use the #1 size /4" for screw-on guitar necks. They screw into an 11/32" hole. It's a lot cheaper here than in big stores or master craftsmen. Tip: Threaded inserts can hardly be screwed in straight by hand with a screwdriver. Getting started in strabismus causes all sorts of problems. One trick I use is to cut off the head of a screw that is convenient to put in. Then screw on some nuts and connect them so that the screw sticks out just enough to put it in Screw the bit. Now place the…
