Efficient Food Dehydration with Presto 06307 Dehydro Electric Dehydrator Mesh Screens Review

I love these things. They make cleaning my dehydrator MUCH easier! I have yet to clean the trays myself, but these strainers are small enough to be washed in the sink AND are durable enough to be dishwasher safe. They catch most of the leftover food/dried marinade during the dehydrating process, making cleaning the bowls themselves a lot easier.

I thought these inserts would work well for me when using them to dry my tomatoes but I was wrong in that assumption. First, they significantly increased the overall drying time of the fruit and gave the final product an uneven texture. Second, they cannot be restored to their original state. The tomatoes soiled them badly and I can't get rid of the smell. I ended up drying fruit on the original racks that came with it, which in hindsight worked really well.

After having to pick up scraps of food in my food dehydrator that had fallen through regular trays I bought these nets which have an almost mesh like surface to keep food in place. The holes in the grates are large enough to allow air to circulate but small enough to prevent onions, celery and other small pieces from falling onto the lower trays. I hand wash them (they're plastic) and just keep them on trays in the dehydrator. They fit most round dehydrators and hold more small items. Try it.

Worked well with a different brand dehydrator. My dehydrator isn't a Presto so I was a little worried these screens wouldn't fit, but they work fine with the NutriChef dehydrator. I think they will probably fit in most dehydrators. I had them in my closet and it distorted the shape a bit so I would suggest laying them flat for storage. I bought two of these two piece strainers because my Presto Dehydro only has four compartments. They worked great, true to size and are made from nice, durable plastic with reinforced edges. Non-Stick Mesh Nets are lightweight, washable and the only way to dry small fruits/vegetables/food in a Presto Dehydrator. Small fruits or foods in small pieces (less than say 1/2 inch before dehydrating) tend to fall between the rough plastic ribs on the trays that come with the dehydrator.
