🐾 Optimized Flap Assembly for Pride Pet Doors Review

This has proved to be a perfect replacement for our old Johnson door flap. It's heavy and seems pretty durable. My husband added a piece of metal to the bottom edge of the door for the magnets to snap in and keep the doors closed more securely. He also plans to add a piece of metal on the sides. We are happy with this purchase as we did not have to replace the entire dog flap.

Easy to install and perfect fit. The large size has magnets on the sides of the valves which was a pleasant surprise as the description didn't list magnets. The rubber is flexible and has a decent seal, but not great. My dogs got used to it immediately. The price was the cheapest I found buying a Johnson replacement. Three dogs and heavy use determine the longevity of the replacement, but the fit is perfect.

Lid replaced a clear plastic lid from a manufacturer that went out of business and needed to match the original door. It almost doesn't work and I had to modify it by drilling and installing a lath in the top of the u-valve as the tiny plastic pins fell out in the first hour of use. Now it more or less works. but I will probably find a better solution and a new door. I found the flap to be overpriced and was disappointed with the poor fit.

This item only lasted 2 years even though I have 3 dogs so it has been used a lot. This is a large door panel and the only panel that fits my particular door. You know you're in the right place when PetSafe or another company tells you to contact them for a replacement door panel. This is one of those shutters. It's solid black, so dogs take a bit of getting used to. My dogs were a little shy to handle it when we first got it. It also absorbs a lot of Arizona heat. They should probably make it…

I have had a Petsafe door in my home for 15 years. The replacement shield was Model No. L-VA-11. I have replaced this valve with a Petsafe product many times. Since I last replaced it, Petsafe has discontinued this product. I did a little research and bought this valve to try it out without having to replace the whole door. It was the perfect match. I bought this to replace a sliding glass panel dog door that originally had a Johnson Pet Dor size L2 dog door. The original was clear plastic but discolored and warped over the years, still worked but let in too many bugs and hot or cold air. The unit was a perfect sized replacement but the 3 screw holes on the top of the door were not inserted as on the original resulting in the screws holding the old door in place not being long enough to get through to fit the new door.
