Description of 🔧 Optimized Functionality Interfaces for Debugging Computer Components by Programmers

The MPLAB PICkit 4 In-Circuit Debugger/Programmer allows fast and easy debugging and programming of PIC and dsPIC flash microcontrollers, using the powerful graphical user interface of MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE), version 4.15. The MPLAB PICkit 4 programs faster than its predecessor PICkit3. Along with a wider target voltage, the PICkit 4 supports more advanced interfaces. An additional micro SD card slot and the ability to be self-powered from the target means you can take your code with you and program on the go.*, and never worry about the code size. 8-pin single in-line header (compatible with ICSP/2-wire JTAG/4-wire JTAG/SWD), Matches silicon clocking speed, programs as fast as the device will allow. The PICkit 4 now supports Programmer-to-Go functionality. To use it, MPLAB X IDE v5.30 or later is required for firmware update, and a Micro SD Card is also included for your convenience to hold the program data.

Good Product: Computer and Accessories

This is a faster version of PICKIT 3. The included accessories are handy and useful when you need to memorize the code. It works as advertised and haven't had any issues with it so far. I have used it with the PIC18F series and it has worked very well.

Pros
  • Thanks to the additional micro SD card slot and battery powered target, you can take your code with you and program on the go* without worrying about code size.
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Let's hope it's more reliable.

Has an additional contact connector and does not use SD card pre-programming. Otherwise it works just as good as my pic3.

Pros
  • 8-pin single row connector (ICSP/2-wire JTAG/4-wire JTAG/SWD compliant) matches silicon clock speed, programs as fast as the device will allow
Cons
  • which I don't really have Any - any dislikes about it, everything is fine

Used Appearance

The package arrived sealed and when I pulled out the box inside which is the original packaging for pickit4 it was already open so I'm not sure if it has been used or the return has been sent back but it's not that what I expected . hope this works

Pros
  • PICkit 4 now supports Programmer-to-Go. To use it, you need MPLAB X IDE v5.30 or later to update the firmware and a micro SD card for convenient storage of program data.
Cons
  • No service

Great tool, very easy to use

Excellent, very easy to set up and run. There is a quick start guide on their website as well as a 3-4 minute video tutorial. In a few minutes I programmed my PIC18 and MPLAB also recognized the programmer immediately after plugging it into the USB port without any further steps or drivers. I'm using it with the latest MPLAB software on a Mac (Macbook Pro 13, Intel processor). There are no issues communicating with the USB port (I used a Thunderbolt to USB adapter), nor was there any need to…

Pros
  • The optional micro SD card slot and battery powered target means you can take your code with you and program on the go* without worrying about code size.
