🔧 Enhanced Performance Shifter Bushing Kit by Prothane 16-1602 Review

I can only say wow. Regular bushings are made of rubber, new ones are designed to yield. It's hard plastic and a definite upgrade that gives the car super crisp shifts and a nice shift sound. Full Disclosure I also replaced my U-joint while I was there. The repair takes some time, I don't think I could have done it if I hadn't already replaced my diff.

Installed this on my wife's 2005 Subaru Baja Turbo and not only did it fit perfectly and was easy to install it will probably last the next 200,000 miles and then some. Much better shift stability. In combination with the new shift linkage, the car feels like a new STI. You won't be disappointed if you replace it and the clutch together.

I should have listened when Revane told me "This won't fit in your car". It's not like this. The lower half where the bar connects to the drive train is fine and frankly very high quality. But the top sleeve under the stick is nowhere near the same size. For some reason there are at least a few answers and reviews here that say they fit. Get the same materials and results as much more expensive products! Bend the urethane a few degrees to align the fasteners with the factory mounting holes. I call it a global problem no matter what brand you buy because I've bought several different ones over the years and almost always give up in frustration before putting the second screw in. I'm not sure if anyone else had the problem but the shape of the top of the derailleur hub didn't allow me to line up the bolts. Even pushing this thing with a lot of force after aligning one side didn't give me the room I needed to get the screws straight. I ended up taking a dremel up and sanding it down about 1/4" to fit.
