Description of Proto Pasta Matte Fiber Black 1.75mm Filament

Matte finish on prints that hides layer lines for more attractive printed parts. Matte Fiber can be heat treated to retain more stiffness to higher temperatures. Dimensional stability is improved over HTPLA without fibers. The plant-based fibers improve adhesion of glue and paint. Processing is comparable to standard PLA. No heated bed required. Process may be less consistent on smaller nozzles (<.4mm) and/or Bowden type machines. No special hardware or nozzles are required. This material is stiff and breaks if bent. Suggested print temperature is 190-230C. Designed and manufactured in the USA with Quality and Customer Service as a top priorities.

I use this filament regularly at work when I need a part with some electrostatic dissipation properties. While I don't think it's worth using as a conductor, it works well in that capacity. Also, it has such a nice matte finish that my colleagues sometimes buy it just for that. With a little sanding of the details, you can get a much more professional look than the typical glossy rollers. Because it contains amorphous carbon, it can delaminate more easily than regular PLA, so keep that in mind.

This filament is amazing

I am making some car parts with this filament on a CR10S Pro v2 and after tweaking the settings a bit I got it pretty good. The handling of this thread is top notch! It's almost impossible to see the layer lines unless you use a magnifying glass. It also feels silky smooth! I love it! The main problem I have is sticking to the bed. My printing notes are below: UPDATE 10/2/21: If you are having trouble with the table sticking, try leaving it warm for the duration of your print job. It really…

Great color but requires special equipment to print

HTPLA filament is great because you can print and heat treat to create an incredibly strong and heat resistant part. Heat treatment is also a problem. If you end up with a hot end that doesn't heat up at all, you end up with an extremely durable clog that is heat resistant. . Yes I had to use a Dewalt drill to clear the blockage. They have a record of this and they state that you can set the temp to 240C and the clog will pop out, which isn't always the case. The E3D V6 has a great transition…
