Exploded Frying Pan: Kitchen & Dining

This frying pan exploded in the oven the first time I used it. When it was placed in the oven it was room temperature. I heard about it but never believed in it. Dangerous broken glass and hot cake mix throughout the oven.

Pros
  • Permanent Test Results
Cons
  • Expensive

Failed twice at Bakers & Casseroles

The glass was scratched when the product first arrived which I could live with but the top looked warped and wouldn't close. I ordered a replacement and the jar looks fine, but this time the lid looked warped in a few places, had dirty black spots and wouldn't even close. Once I assume it's the scheduler, twice a week is the problem.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Very expensive

This casserole dish just cracked in my oven and broke into 100 pieces

What the heck? I tried to bake chicken in this casserole dish and it just exploded in my oven! WHAT THE HELL. Not only is my dinner completely ruined! I refused to purchase this item and my lid is completely covered with broken glass. Don't touch this thing. Is that a serving platter or a baking dish? I thought "Pyrex" meant safer?

New dish exploded after being removed from the oven!

I wish I had read the reviews on this product before buying it. Unfortunately, I mistakenly believed that I could rely on the quality of the Pyrex brand. I baked the casserole for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. When I took the dish out of the oven, it broke immediately upon being placed on my counter. I am so disappointed in the quality of this product and will be throwing away the other one I bought as a 2 pack.

  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Frequency

It wasn't what I expected, but it's damn good

I ordered what I thought was a lidded Pyrex disk in the original form factor - no finger holes. Instead I got a new style plate and lid (I think it's called the Easy Grab plate). It's actually the same dimensions and volume as my old OLD original record, so I decided to give it a try. In short, it works great. And the lid allows me to store the meatloaf in a casserole dish in the fridge. And the handles make it really easy to manipulate.

  • Hands-free operation

Dangerous! in the kitchen and dining room

zero stars! Serious defect in my pan. I was moving a tray from the fridge to the kitchen counter when the tray exploded in my hands. I didn't slam the tray against the counter, but placed it gently on the counter. I think the glass just couldn't cope with the temperature swings from a cold fridge to a cool kitchen counter. I have a ten year old tablet that I have never had any problems with. I think this batch just has serious quality control issues. Very scary as some of the pieces were so…

Pros
  • I'm looking forward to
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Good product. Lid and handle type may vary

Very satisfied. The lid style was inconsistent when I ordered 2 of these. One had a lid and handles, but the other had a lid that fit in the handles rather than on top, leaving less room for items further up the bowl. The handles were finger slot type which made the bowl a bit wider than I wanted. I received a replacement which was supposed to be like the item pictured but again it was the open handles type with a lid that fit inside. Abandoned but still happy with the quality and functionality

Pros
  • Nice appearance

Security Warning! Pyrex Explosions

Wow. I just discovered that they changed the formula of pyrex glass and here is the result. You can google to see the class action lawsuit that is in place. "Pyrex was originally made from borosilicate glass, a nearly indestructible material that can withstand heat. In their original 1919 patent, Corning stated that the product would be used with borosilicate glass. "Due to the high coefficient of thermal resistance." This basically means that it can be used at high temperatures without fear of
