For a vertical broom, not a push broom, the bristles on this one are too stiff to sweep properly, but I doubt they would Broom out, it would be much better. The bristles don't bend at all. I used this unit outside to sweep dirt, grass and leaves off a paved path and many nooks and crannies. I usually just use a leaf blower because it's not a smooth surface and things like dirt aren't easy to sweep up when it's wet (and we had heavy rain last night).
